|
|
| I found this thread when I searched Christian Aspergers on google. I've really been struggling with loneliness and frustration due to the distance that forms between me and any other person who isn't my direct family. I try to form connections and it almost always goes wrong. I don't want to get into a discussion about why; I'm beginning to understand that now relative to aspergers. I guess I'm just looking for encouragement from other Christians with AS. It's 1:40am EST; I'm on a lot of caffeine right now (was out on a double-date with my hubby and my sister and her husband tonight and had a few cherry cokes). They're not Christians; but she's my only sibling and the person I am closest to. |

Officially Self-diagnosed Aspie here, starting on the path to be diagnosed (I've got a neurologist's name and number I need to call sometime during working hours). And, a follower of Christ. Due to my researching everything I consider interesting, and my throughly read-through Bibles, I cannot say I'm a Christian because "Christian" is synomonous with "church goer" in today's language, of which I no longer am.
Yea, I know "Jesus said not to give up meeting together." And I don't. Not outside of a "church setting" it's just that a lot of the churches I have tried to attend are very clique-ish and legalistic, neither of which I can take. If you are truly a Son/Daughter of God, you are my friend and sibling in Christ and I'd love to chat... I just can't make it in a church setting... and I'm thinking my very likely having asperger's probably doesn't help that at all.
Other than not going to church, there are a few other legalities that most congregations follow that I disagree with, but the core of my faith, is the same I think. Jesus is my Lord and Savior and Friend. Without Him I'd be litterally nothing. |

Hello I am very much so both these things:))) Jesus said my sheep hear my voice & they listen & follow me [paraphrased closely]. Jesus speaks to His sheep today. He also, to those who seek Him, reveals much and warns of the coming disaster, among other things. He corrects & removes all sin bondages from us. Praise Jesus!
BTW its not about church but a relationship w/ Him. I so learned this. you can connect w/ me on utube/nwkklown and fa(ebok/micayolo and fellowship with brothers & sisters in Jesus. bless u _________________ Turn away from all the things of men- Turn away from the old deeds of sin- Turn away (,follow me,) ta never feed what's been- Turn away -- Jesus
the five senses are overrated
So, what is this relating thing you speak of? |

Welcome to WP! I'm a self-diagnosed Aspie and a Christian and have attended loads of churches over 28 years and I don't fit into any. Maybe we could create a network of Aspie Christians and we could share our enthusiasm and insight and encourage and get to know each other in the process. |

I'm a Christian, and also suspect Asperger's in myself. Can't afford an official Dx at this point but it's pretty obvious to myself and those who I am close to. Welcome to the WrongPlanet. |

This appeared to be the only page under this topic so I shall post my post here. Hope this is ok?
I have grown up in a Christian family, with strong morals.
Anyway I guess that I feel like even though I have accepted Christ into my life, a couple of times
I still feel like their is something I am missing.
Many people it seems that receive Christ have large changes to their daily lives.
I Know for an absolute Fact Jesus Christ is Lord. That he is The way The truth and The life, that No One can come to God apart from through him.
I seem to have the head knowledge, uploaded and ready to go.
But it 'feels' like when I pray they bounce off the ceiling, and when I invite God in he dips his toes in then leave because its too cold. (I know this is not true, just a metaphor).
I just sometimes feel like an, unmotivated, unproductive, waste of space waiting for something.
"Well so Soul what does this have to do with Asbergers?"
I was just wondering whether being less empathetic, emotional, and more logical and analytical, could cause this apparently strange balance of Knowlege:Spirtual that people seem to have the opposite problem with.
Will I really need to fight to hear His voice until I get used to 'tunning in'??
Just some of the thoughts on my mind at the moment, thanks for reading.
I am Anglican by the way, just thought I should include that

| I do believe a God exists; however, reading things about the Catholic priests and the more extreme aspects of Christianity always makes me reconsider my position on religion. Still though, I go to church most every Sunday because my mother is a devout and it takes away some of my stress each morning. Mostly, I am a Christ follower who advocates religious freedom. |
