I do talk to myself constantly, but just in my head; too much effort for me to actually vocalize what I am thinking. Speaking is a bit of an effort for me in any case, but if I am very intensly thinking I will speak out loud, but I am almost intelligable at that point _________________ All your bass are belong to us. |

| I talk to myself equally both verbal in my head most of the day. Hubby thinks I'm a little off my 'rocker' as he calls it. |

Some of the best conversations are with myself. _________________ THOUGHT IT WAS THE END.

| Quote: | | I talk to myself constantly as well. And by constantly I mean all day and night. I often “think out loud” about things I am working or obsessing on, or practice monologues, or pathetic speeches I could make to an old girlfriend, “what a better guy I am now” kind of garbage. |
Ah, the shoulda-saids. I do those very often. While talking to myself I have my best comebacks.
Question: Has anyone ever done this or sort of "practiced" a conversation with someone you know (who's not there of course)-- maybe even something drastically important, and by the time you finished your preparation speech you feel much better? And the next time you see them, you forget that they actually never heard that little speech and you wonder why they still act the way they do. (Sometimes, it almost feels as though if I address my speech to someone-- even if they weren't ever there-- they should have still heard it. I know this is not logical. Almost like, "If I think it you should think it,too." Guess it's a bit of that Theory of Mind problem again.) sigh. _________________ My Science blog, Science Over a Cuppa - http://insolemexumbra.wordpress.com/

| I usually do, but when I do I mentally do. I can even here my own voice when I talk to myself in my head. I have spent so much time by myself that I need someone to talk to. |

I always talk to myself. Vocalization is a common trait amung all people in anyways. It helps focus the mind and break the silence. _________________ "No matter how many instances of white swans we see, we must never assume that all swans are white." ~Sir Karl Popper

Out of the time I spend vocalising, most of it is probably to myself. _________________ THOUGHT IT WAS THE END.

Besides talking to oneself, does anyone just ramble to oneself??? Like, just gibberish. I was doing this last night and it was like my mouth was still going and saying recognizable words, but my brain was LONG gone. I was doing this whilst driving. I find it generally rather humorous and these are the times I entertain myself most. Weird. _________________ My Science blog, Science Over a Cuppa - http://insolemexumbra.wordpress.com/

I definetely talk to myself. Usually it is a conversation in my head like an imaginary lecture to someone or basic dialogue. I only let out a few phrases out so it comes up incomplete.
When I am in the shower I talk, or sing the loudest but I don't think anyone can understand me.
I talk to myself in my bedroom especially when I am online, and I try to make out clear phrases but they don't come out right in my hearing opinion so I repeat myself. This usually happens when I am pretending to explain something to somebody.
In others rooms and outdoors and even my own room, I talk to myself as quiet as possible though. I don't want to offend other people if I have something tough to say. |

When you talk to yourself, do you refer to yourself in the third person?
I saw a bit of this in a different thread and I was wondering if anyone did that.
(Yes, I do talk to myself like that) _________________ All your bass are belong to us. |

I do sometimes, and mostly when I am alone. I find it easy to control. I will sometimes move my lips in speech silently.
But I do do something weird. I breathe in rythm to sounds. Music (especially), speech, dialog, etc. Does anyone else do this? |

I talk to myself often, even answer back at myself. I usually do this when planning on something to do, when meditating on a thought, or when recollecting my thoughts.
I also repeat myself, and repeat the comments of others. I think there is a name for this. I don't know what it is |

I talk to myself all the time. I used to be somewhat self concious about it, and tried not to do it in public. Now I don't really care that much anymore, unless I'm someplace really important.
I also sing a lot. That I try to make sure I only do when I'm alone, or just me and my kids.
