I think there's a problem on my end too. I tried again last night, both to yours and to some others I could find, and I couldn't manage to get onto a single one of them. @_@ Google searching proved fruitless.

Setting up a server is so confusing. I tried it once to play with my friend and I'm normally pretty good at figuring out how to get things to run, but that was just way too hard for me! I wonder if it'll get easier once the game's completed.

I've always liked building things in general though, but I'd prefer some sort of goal in the design that is easier for me to see. Like a level editor for a game. The goal being whatever the games focus is.

One problem I found with Minecraft though is how tedious building could get. If you had a modified client, it definitely made it less tedious, but it was still there. I can't imagine making a super object in that game.

I think that the rarity of building materials is actually what makes Minecraft so addictive. For me, if the game was just creative mode (where you have the ability to place an unlimited number of blocks and there are no enemies, sorry if I got the mode name wrong) I wouldn't have even bothered to pay for it. It would have just been a game that I played for a couple of minutes and then promptly forgot about.

For me, it's the mindset of "if you can do anything, it doesn't mean anything." The fact that you have to work incredibly hard for each piece of building material you get makes the things you build mean more. At least, it does in my opinion. : )

But I kind of agree with you that the fact that the game doesn't give you any goals can make it hard to play. Especially for people who aren't very good at setting their own goals, like me. XD Or aren't very creative builders, like me. X ( But I also think that if Minecraft did give the player a goal, it'd stop being Minecraft, you know?

I would really like it if there was a map option in-game, though. I've heard of mods you can do, but I'm not computer-savvy enough to dare mess with them. Fo-Rum, I am amazed at your maze-building-ness. I get lost in my own caves. Actually, forget the caves, I get lost on land! @_@ All of my homes are giant lava-filled towers to keep me from getting lost above ground.

I also enjoy hunting for materials, that's one of my favorite parts of the game. I have trouble building things on large scale, so I build all this small stuff and use hardly any material, lol. I love building houses all over, and connecting my world with roads all across the waters. I haven't figured out how to make a good railway yet though.

One thing my husband and I did, before we figured out how to play together...we had a single-player world file, that we copied back and forth. I would work on the world, save it, and send the file to him. Then he would do the same and send it back to me. We couldn't play at the same time, but we could work on the same world.

My husband said he will try to set it up properly for me, I'm really no good at anything involving ports, or networking or anything like that. LOL.

i'm a minecraft addict, right now i'm building a house that is hanging off the side of a mountain, i'm still on 1.5 because my mods won't work if i update.

i've seen alot of those huge creations, most were made in creative or on a server, on a few i've seen are ligit. the enterprise that one guy made in creative is the only one in creative that impressed me.

i was going to build the durandel from xenosaga but every time i start a big project like that something happens to my save file or my compy itself, and i lose the save file.

i figure i can build the ship as long as the wings are horizontal. it's 4,000 meters long, which is 4,000 blocks, and in the game that is huge, but i don't really know how it looks inside from viewing the outside, and there are no diagrams or anything. not even a decent pic of it in general.

Minecraft is awesome. It has a bit of a rep as having a lot of Aspies playing it lol

Oberoth- you can get mods that will give you unlimited items, I think it is called "too many items" or some such. The other option is you can get the actual infdev version. It wont have a lot of the new stuff added since beta but it does let you place and remove blocks unlimitedly. Check the wiki for it, Notch still hosts it on the official site too, just the link isn't public.

I play minecraft and mine stuff and build tall buildings.
I am a admin on the Sumocraft Survival Server (66.225.198.66:25649) which has pvp and griefing allowable in the wilderness. It also has cities with plots where most the residents live in to avoid griefing. We are vanilla. I also co-operate with another person for another server which I'm hoping to transform into a full pvp server. (217.79.179.17) Feel free to join us on the first server. :O

I think Minecraft is great.
But I think also that the Minecraft Hype is now over.
I think Minecraft is good if you have an idea.
But without any ideas it is boring.
I think that you can do almost everything in Minecraft.
What also interesting is, is that I first heard of Mincraft from a friend how also had Asperger.

I've been playing minecraft for years, and for me it still hasn't lost it's charm.
I like anything that allows me to be creative and Minecraft is my Lego (No tidying up little bits)
Some thing's they've added over the million or so updates I find are a bit pointless like potions and squids.

I love playing single and doing my own thing (without fear of it being grie ed by some douche who lacks any form of creativity) but I also enjoy multi but I find most servers get boring to quickly especially ones ran by naive kids who assume anyone who finds more then 4 diamonds in a day is either hacking or "X raying" which really annoyed me when I got accused of it !!

Some people enjoy spending hours (I've spent almost 3 days before) getting lost in a huge network of caves, digging out every ore they see, strip mining at bedrock and filling in lava pools to dig back out on the off chance there may be diamonds.. But the owner didnt understand that :S

I had a interesting idea about Minecraft.
Most of the buildings are in the normal dimension.
But would it be also interesting to build a space ship or a space station in the End?
The End is the perfect place to build Science Fiction things.
Also try to build music.
I had the problem wih Minecraft, that I had to much Ideas and not enough time to realize it.

I thought it was alright. I don't like that there isn't really much skill to hone and there isn't much to the game out of the way of just building things. It seems to have gotten the best of a lot of people.

My step bro just burnt his entire underground house too which was funny.

I guess I'm in a minority that didn't get sucked into this game. I think its a good platform for people to express creativity, but it doesn't offer much to me in terms of gaming since all you really do is build things. I think it would probably be more fun played with a few friends.
