Why do people always assume I'm lying?

I was wondering if anyone else runs into this. It seems like no matter what I am talking about people automatically assume I'm lying, and the worst part about this is I am hyper truthful. I swear I could say the sky is blue and everyone in the room would suddenly think it wasn't.

Lack of eye contact perhaps? :?

People aren't used to the truth anymore. Lying is considered the truth

I don't know. My mother used to follow up something she would divulge to me by saying "And don't go blabbing it to everyone!" as if she thought I really did this and this notion seemed to rub off on my younger siblings. I was always perplexed why she seemed to think this because I actually rarely spoke to anyone. I figured out years later that she just resented the fact that I was more honest and conservative valued than she was. In her mind, this made me akin to an authority figure, and due to her perceptions of authority figures, she had a baseless fear I would "tell" for the sake of getting people in trouble with other family members. She's over this now.

I tend to have the same problem OP. I think it could be related to the way I explain things sometimes & also because I'm socially awkward so they assume I'm lying to cover something up because I seem nervous, acting weird ect. The odd thing is that people tend to believe me more when I am lying

i think this has to do with eye-contact.
one of the most common, on-the-fly 'truth detectors' that children get tought is that, when lying, people tend to try to look away from the eyes of the one they're lying to.
since AS means eye-contact is uncomfortable at the least, we look away from the eyes naturally, and are therefor assumed to be lying from an NT point of vieuw; i mean, why else would he not make eyecontact?

I don't think eye contact is a factor for me. My family knows I never make eye contact & people tend to believe me when I lie & I don't make eye contact then. I think it's more about acting nervous for me. I usually have a little time to plan ahead when I decide to lie about something so I am prepared but when something suddenly happens or I am unexpectedly asked about something; I am caught off-guard & am nervous.

It could also be that our world is so different from theirs, that is too hard to accept that we might actually be telling the truth.

For instance, as an Aspie, I could eat pepperoni pizza and play Scrabble for 2 hours every night (the other night I got 109 pts playing QUEENLY). But, many NTs can't grasp the concept of eating exactly the same food for dinner, day after day.

Another example--suppose an green alien from the Planet Uranus actually did knock on your door last night, barge into your house, and steal your Science homework because it threatened the future of the Universe. In practice, rather than telling the truth, it would be easier to lie and say you watched the Red Sox/Yankees game!

I don't think nonautistics have a concept of the truth. They have power structures from which they derive a facsimile of the truth. That's why they value good liars. They consider you a liar because they see you as holding a low position in the hierarchy.

Subconsciously people do seem to do this. Everyone always wants up the social hierarchy but us it seems...

People are stupid. I swear that if they don't like you, they can decide to think you are lying. Also I swear that if someone has never happened to them nor if they have ever seen it, it must not be true and must not be possible for it to happen. I also know that if you don't do eye contact, they think you're lying. If you do too much eye contact, they think you are lying. Plus I also bet that if they don't like your answer nor like what you are saying, they would rather pretend it's a lie.

I'm going to guess it's eye contact too.

Also, do you sweat or fidget a lot when your talking? Those are other signs of lieing.

Eye Contact is something you can work on though.
