Who are worst singers who are famous and not some person doing karaoke?

As some of you may know, I like some technically very bad singers. However, I can't think about anything I like about Dave Davies's (from The Kinks) voice, apart from it's nice to hear someone other than Ray Davies singing on a Kinks track. Laughing

I'm generally very tolerant of bad singing.

Joss Stone's voice really annoys me. I think I'll go with her as my least favourite voice.

Yes, and I used to enjoy the work of Raphael Saadiq

I can't think of any, but they abound, especially in popular music.

My least favourite voice is autotune

Out of tune is preferable to autotune. Give me a whole choir composed of Dave Davies clones rather than autotune. Laughing

Bette Midler has always annoyed me. She just seems to shout louder as she goes up the scale. I don't understand why she is so rated.

Celine Dion. Argh.

James Blunt. Erk.

Michael Bolton. Meh.

John Barrowman. Great actor. Dire singer/entertainer.

Barry Manilow also can't sing. I mean listen to one of his albums (I have, repeatedly, at work). He actually has a bad voice.

Actually I seem to be picking people who sing ballads, or even worse POWER ballads. So maybe I just have a thing against those. Yup.

Pete Townshend as a singer...yay or nay?

I go with nay.

Makes me think of how I feel about Shirley Bassey. Not exactly a shouter, but she seems to be incapable of singing at any other dynamic level other than bombastic

I like Barry Manilow's voice. Yes, I have listened to one of his albums because my (deaf) aunt would always play it in her car; she thought her passengers would like to hear music (being indifferent to what it was, herself). I ended up hearing that album a lot and quite enjoyed it, but that could just be nostalgia talking. I agree he's not a great singer.

James Blunt is universally accepted as annoying.

I think the correct response to Celine Dion is more like...AAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRGH! Laughing

Richard Harris. I like him as an actor... well, okay, I like him as Rafer Janders, but MacArthur Park is a crime against music.
