Hello,
Can anybody tell me what private assessments for Asperger's are like in the UK? I've been told by the NHS that I won't get an appointment until at least early 2012, so I'm now looking into going privately.
Somebody recommended Pamela Yates to me, she charges £900 for a full assessment - is this price alright?

I almost paid for a private assessment with Maxine Aston but people on here persuaded me it was a waste of money and I think they were right. £900 doesn't sound to bad but early 2012 isn't that far away in the great scheme of things.

Just found this http://savilleav.mediasite.com/mediasit ... 150673701d about adult diagnosis, don't know if it's of any help to you.

Ask to be referred to a different clinic. I contacted the NAS before visiting my GP, and they emailed me a list of NHS clinics in my area. He then wrote to them, and I was offered an appointment within a few weeks. Unfortunately I had to cancel and push it back but that's my fault, not theirs!

Thanks for the replies. I emailed the NAS, they gave the me the name of a clinic that does private assessments. Does anyone have experience with Dr Judy Eaton? That's one of the names that came up in the NAS directory for Solihull.

Have you checked the waiting list? I found one private clinic could only offer an appointment in 5 months time! Worth checking first.

Had a look at that vid, useful that you can skip slides, related to the '2nd skin' bit.

Thanks for the warning re Maxine Aston, had been looking for potential 'counsellors who know more than most about ASD' & had come across her website. Having read some old WP posts i'll steer clear and just keep talking to myself instead :)
