That's untrue. The worst it will do is clog your pores if you leave it on overnight.

I've had ance for awhile now on my chest, back, shoulders, neck and face. I've used about 10 different perscription products and more non Rx things that I care to count. NOTHING WORKS.

Oh my mother probably just told me that so I would not were make up then.

Probably - although most make-up contains ingredients that are not healthy for the skin. Also if using make-up you need to be careful to keep it clean or else you're just adding more bacteria to your face time and time again. Mineral make-ups are best for the skin, give better coverage and don't block pores or contain any nasty ingredients.

I rarely ever got a pimple through high school despite the fact the I sweated every day.

I think its because I never wore make-up.

These two are hard for me to do because touching my face is one of my compulsions as well as scratching at my head/scalp and scabs and I live in the mountains so it's hard to find somewhere to go swimming without traveling for at least 30 minutes by car.

Plain and Simple, rub salt with a little bit of water on your face everyday. (when you're not getting out)

I've found it's good to use a skin toner, too.

I have been using witch hazel as my skin toner for a few years. It's also an ingredient in some of the medicated concealers I have used.

I had real bad acne problems but managed to cure it in a matter of weeks by: 1. Sleeping more regularly 2. Washing my face in the morning (even if it's just a splash of water) 3. Putting sudacrem on my face before I went to bed (this last bit was my secret weapon)

I normally have zit or two, who doesn't get them once in awhile? I think it's the extra stress in my life causing my breakout right now. I have a bunch of zits along my right temple, and in my right eyebrow.

I've had acne since P6, that's when you're about 10/11 years old in Scotland (only basic pimples or two). Since then it gradually worsened to the point where I have also been told "Adam, ya' got to clean up your face sometime" and it would piss me off as every night it would seem I'm putting on 5 layers of face cream to try to calm it down. It was like that until I was about 14/15 and during a tetanus jab a nurse recommended I get acne medication from the doctors and I've been taking it for a while but it's been worth it, as I no longer have any visible spots! Very Happy

My acne is not horrible enough for me to actually try to get rid of it. So what is I can count about two dozen or so small ones on my face alone? The best I'll do is use acne-defeating body wash. Of course, I'd prefer to be without it, but my inherent laziness usually wins out here.

One of my special interests is skincare, since I used to have HORRIBLE acne... After doing these things, I rarely have a breakout. I know how you feel, and I'd love to help!
Here's what I know Smile

I experimented and found that using a more natural cleanser works better, and the fewer ingredients that you can’t pronounce, the better. Even if you don't have sensitive skin, use it! Gentle cleansers are good for skin with acne. (Or at least use something without salacitic acid). It’s also important to wash your face twice a day, and the less makeup you wear, the better.

Make a paste from baking soda and apple cider vinegar. (Thick enough to stick to your face, but not so thick that it's hard to spread). Put it on at night for 10 minutes, and then wash it off. This mixture has a balanced pH, so it'll even out your skin's pH. It also draws all of the gross stuff out, since it's a mild exfoliant! Very Happy I use this every night. It works so well, and it’s cheap!

For days when your skin is dry and red, put a mixture of honey, extra virgin olive oil, and sugar on your face (the sugar is to help the mixture stick to your face). Wash it off after 10-15 minutes. Don’t scrub though, because the sugar will hurt your dry skin if you do this. This will even it out without drying it. Honey is also a natural antiseptic, so it is good for getting rid of acne.

Health wise, drink more water! Water cleans out impurities. It's better to go from the inside out when treating acne. Also, don't eat too much sugar. This helps bacteria grow. Cayenne pepper supplements help with acne too, since it speeds up blood flow, which helps to remove impurities faster.

I apologize for this being so long, but I hope it can help!

I could be wrong, but I really don't think diet is the cause of acne. Pimples are caused by oil getting into the pores in your skin. Wouldn't the best thing to prevent it be to wash your face?

I'll chime in here - diet can be a contributing factor, diet effects every aspect of health.
Hormonal issues are another factor to consider, particularly in girls/women.

Washing actually is bad for skin - washing implies using soap or facial wash.
Oil is GOOD for skin as it protects the skin and cleans-out pores, it's only a problem when it is produced in excessive amounts which can clog pores. Washing strips skin of its natural oils, which in turn effects the skins self-protective properties, and dries-out the skin so oils to clean-out the pores are lacking, the skins response to this to overproduce oil...which clogs pores.

Gentle cleansing is FAR better than washes.
Some acne treatments and toners will also cause more harm than good by drying out the skin, which is unhealthy and again may increase oil production, gentle cleansing is far better to work with the skin rather than against it and are a lot more gentle on delicate skin. I personally recommend Oil Cleansing Method for acne, maybe with a few drops lavender or tea tree oil which are anti-bacterial, and vitamin e to help aid healing - although Oil Cleansing alone will both prevent and heal acne. http://www.theoilcleansingmethod.com

lol skip the big routine just pop em when there still blackheads. then jar the juice and experiment with it. also play pranks on your friends like putting it in their drinks.

I'm so sick and tiered of always looking in the mirror and seeing that my face hasn't cleared up. Even though I wash with all kinds of stuff and I have acne control medicine I still can't seem to get it to clear up. Sometimes I feel like I should just get chemical face mask treatment. Also another thing don't pop zits or pimples cause that will just lead to permanent scaring.
