I have begun work on the race report. I am 15% done. The reason why i haven't worked on it soon is that school just started up for me right now.

The race report is finished, here it is.

California State Nitro Series, Round 2, Sacramento, CA 8/20-22/2011

My dad and my friends Christian and Alex arrived at the track to get some practice in for the upcoming race the day before we settled into our hotel that night to get some sleep. The next day Saturday, was practice then qualifying, I got tot the track around 10 AM and practiced till 3 PM, After that we got ready for our first round of Qualifying

Round 1

As I took my first lap, my car went straight into the wall, going left when I turned right. My dad and I found out that our battery was dead, and we had to put a charged one in, we were allowed to run in thee next heat but problems didn’t get any better. While going down the backstretch, I lost steering, then went right through the wall at nearly 50 MPH, what happened was that the battery became unplugged while going down the backstretch. The car was actually ok, there was just a little bit of a crack on the top plate of the bumper but everything was operational. We tried to finish the qualifier but the battery plug fell out two more times. My dad and I pulled it in and called it a day, we were contemplating getting out of nitro sedan.

Round 2-3

We gave our faulty battery to the track owner last night and he fixed the battery plug for us and our car was operational again. During the second qualifier, my cars was handling good and I was able to take the TQ position only tenths of a second, the TQ was later beat two heats later and I ended up qualifying 3rd overall at the end of round 3 before the A main.

A main

Before the main, there was a brief drivers introduction, then everyone fired up their car and were walked over to the starting grid, the cars were filled up and the flag was waved and the race was on. The leader got off to a bad start. I was now in second place. For two laps, the top qualifier and me battled it out for the second place position. Just past the start/finish line, the top qualifier hit me from the rear end and tucked my body shell under my right rear tire and it took me five seconds to get my body untucked which dropped me to 5th place. As the race progressed, I moved my way up to 4th place, then 3rd, and focused on driving calm. With 13 minutes into the race, I was coming up on three slower cars. I tried to make a pas on all of them, which was a childish move. I hit one the plow disks and flipped my car over on my lid and stalled the engine and I had to have my car run back to the pits and started up again. Luckily I did not lose a position but I loss two laps to the racer in second place. At the 5 minutes, I caught up to second place and we came out of the pits at the same time. I got loose and he got under me but on the second to last lap I passed him on the inside to make me myself one lap down on second. I end up placing third at the end of the A main which places me in second in the Golden State series only 2 points behind 1st.

Thank you for reading my Round 2 Golden State Series race report. My next race will be the 5th Scale nationals at GLARCRC in Gardena, CA USA, September 10-11. I will keep you updated on the next race.

I have finished the race report here it is.

Radio.Operated.Auto.Racers, 5th Scale On-Road Nationals, September 9-11 2011, Gardena, CA

I practiced with a 4WD 5th scale on Friday, made from a company called FG. FG is from Germany which makes high end 5th scale cars and sells them to racers around the world. Drivers usually spend $5000-$7000 on these cars, such as motor upgrades and other chassis and suspension modifications. The car that I was running was not mine; it was a rental that cost $1400 from one of my sponsors, FG supply. This is a small business run from a home in Long Beach, CA USA. I spent the whole day practicing with the new car and then got ready for the first day of qualifying.

Qualifier 1+2

It rained until 10:00 am and racing did not begin until later in the afternoon. Qualifiers were 10 minutes long and my car was handling well and I ended up qualifying 3rd overall, which made me happy. In the second qualifier I had some trouble dealing with slower racers in traffic. I got caught up in a few wrecks which cost me third place overall, and dropped me to 4th.

Qualifier 3.

Before the third qualifier, all the racers were called for a quick drivers meeting, after that we then had a moment of silence for all the victims of the September 11th attacks.

I was keeping a good pace in this qualifier and I was on right up there with the top runners. By the end of the race, I was coming up on a slower car with two turns to go and he held me up just a bit. I qualified 5th, but the separation between the 3rd and 5th were 7 tenths of a second. It looked like the A main was going to be exciting.

A main

Drivers were only allowed 700CC of fuel and no more. Every car was fueled up in the tech area and was lined up one by one. Then, the racers were given 5 minutes to warm up but some racers only warmed up for 2 minutes to save fuel. When the warm up period was over, the racers headed to the starting grids, lined up and waited for the tone.

On the first lap I got violently hit from the rear and I tumbled quite a few times which broke my rear wing, and sent me to the back. Now I had to run the rest of the race with a broken wing, but for some peculiar reason, the car handled better with out it. 10 minutes into the race I was able to move my up to seventh and I closed in on the 6th place runner. For five minutes we battled back and forth where I was trying real hard to get on the inside of him. I was able to breakthrough in one corner and pass him but he bumped me out of the way on the next. I then went after him again but he began to pull away when we came up on some traffic. With more than a minute to go, I ran out of fuel, and had to retire for the race. I made a mistake when I posted a message on wrong planet when I said I came in 7th I actually finished 8th. I found the results of the A main two days later. I was a little disappointed finishing 8th overall but most importantly, I had a really good time.

Thank you for reading my race report of the ROAR 5th scale on road nationals. My next big race is round three of the Golden State Nitro Series.

Day one of the third round of then golden state series is completed. I was doing very well in my first round of qualifying but I turned in too early in one corner and my engine failed. I have two more qualifiers and the mains tomorrow.
