| A troll is someone who comes into an established community such as an online discussion forum, and posts inflammatory, rude or offensive messages designed intentionally to annoy and antagonize the existing members or disrupt the flow of discussion. |

I guess this is the place I should be if I'm depressed? I still haven't figured out who the moderators are or where they are listed. Is there a place to know who they are?
And as I understand it, only registered members can see this area? Right? That still doesn't prevent someone from making an account and reading here.
I'll read more here, and try to spend more time here. |

You can't really make it any more secure than it is currently. It has to be open to alll; that is its raison d'etre. |

| I think that the haven should also be a place to post positive updates, as well. |

Agree with you, CockneyRebel. Everyone faces challenges and life tests and life lessons or battles some demon.
Learning how to deal with things, making our life just a little bit better, that DOES encourage others. It shows that other people have worked through a trial, that the other people may have tips or ideas on how we can work on our own problems.
One person's solution may not work for another. It might be a catalyst to discover a variation of that solution though.
Positive updates are good. I don't have any though. |

I'm NT but know a a great deal about major depression and the feelings of suicide. I have been very moved by the posts of desparate people. I think this haven is a wonderful outlet where people can vent.

Hey Nannarob!
I spent a lot of time on another site in their various support forums. Depression, PTSD, Pain (physical), Fibromyalgia, Arthritis, Anxiety, etc.
I think I like it better that all of those could be combined into this forum. When discussing the social aspects of physical pain, such as not being able to do what I used to do, or someone else saying that their friends were very uncomfortable with them being uncomfortable...
It doesn't matter what the physical pain is from, we all face the same kinds of reactions from friends/family or even employers. And we have things to face ourselves, while in pain, such as medications. Many of those pain medications are bought over the counter or prescribed and they're the same ones we'd all be using, no matter what pain condition we have.
Some of the meds for depression may be used for other things. Sharing that information is a good thing. And sharing how to get through a day when we are feeling low, it doesn't matter if we're depressed or anxious, we just need to get through the day.
That can help a lot. It can help people who just read and never post. |

I went to another message board and it said i had a new message but I couldn't read it. very frustrating! there's my rant.
The only positiver thing i can think of at the moment is i have enough chocolate! and i am not in anargument with my best friend at the moment.
If anyone has any tips on helping someone who thinks they can never get through the day, and what to say to them, i would like to know, for a friend of mine. There is a postal strike on and i have lost afew nice things i would like to have posted. |

| Well, at leased I know my personal saftey and identity are risk if I post here, I know this is a fact of internet use, but I have too much to lose to risk being reported for some silly forum thread. I'm trying to get my life back on track and the last thing I need is a bunch of doctors turning up at the door dragging me off in a paddy truck. |

Haven sent topic
I have always done my best to ignore emotional rants, expecially if they are name-calling and other bullying. But some of the more sensitive members do not have my obstinate and steely personality. I have been pm'd by a young man who wished to do himself harm. this reminded me of my own NT son who tried to end his life a few years ago. What can be done to prevent such a terrible tragedy amongst WP members?
This is serious. _________________ Radical Aspergian

I like this place for myself as, Wrongplanet.net has always been a haven for me as an Aspie in that I tend to fare terribly on NT messageboards or social-networking sites like Yahoo 360 or Orkut. Still, I'm glad to be here..
