i like when men wear all sorts of clothes, but how they seem to feel in the clothes and whether they look confident pulling it off is most important. silk suits are hot, but so is duck cloth. a just-rolled-out-of-bed, rumpled look is very sexy in my eyes. makes me think of a puppy dog that needs a cuddle for some reason.

I guess, once again, that I've been proven to be "not a real woman". I think everyone should dress their best, and by that I mean we should dress as though we respect the people we come into contact with, and with an eye toward things that flatter our builds and maybe (if you're inclined that way) in a way that expresses our personal style.

I wouldn't know any of those brands that people are throwing around here, if they came up and bit me on the ass. An Armani shoe? I can tell a good quality shoe from a poor quality one, but "Armani" means nothing to me. Neither does "Sean Jean" (it just seems like a way for Sean Combs to rake in extra money by lending his "brand" to clothing. If he could make a buck lending his name to tampons, he'd do it. Doesn't mean I'd trust their absorbency).

I never focused on dressing and did fine. Everyone has their own style.

Didn't read the article in the OP yet but here is my opinion on the subject of male style: Aside from some outlandish "scene" styles, so far I have been unable to determine any signifigant difference from one male outfit to another. Shirt, pants, shoes.. maybe a coat if it's cold. The differences in color or whether or not the shirt has lapels or buttons seems insignificant to me.

Brand names are also irrelevant and I'd probably think less of a person who was wearing brandname gear because 1. They spent a lot of money on it and 2. This means that they think brand names are important for no other reason than society tells them so. Conclusion: They are a sheep.
(Possible exception to this is that they really like the style of one particular brandname piece which is possibly forgiveable depending on how much they spent on it. It's likely still a waste of money. But someone who owns multiple articles of brandname clothing is likely just a sheep.)

P.S. what is a duck cloth?? Laughing

Maybe the person owning multiple articles of brand name clothing has found a brand that fits them great. Of course with most clothes you can't tell it's a brand name because outside of t-shirts most brands don't have giant billboards on them. What does matter is fit, for clothing the most important thing is fit. And honestly outside of H&M it's hard to find cheap clothes that fit a skinny to average sized male nicely. Most cheap clothes are baggy and designed for overweight people. You don't have to wear expensive name brand clothes, but do wear clothes that fit nicely. As for shoes don't wear running shoes out to bars, same goes for Croc's and flip flops. Dressing nicely isn't that hard or indeed expensive.

I'm a jeans/T-shirt guy. At best, I'm a black jeans/polo shirt guy Smile

I don't like suits. I don't like what they look like, I don't like how they feel, I don't like how much they cost, I don't like how long it takes to get dressed in one. When I'm wearing one, I want to move as little as possible to minimize contact with my skin and all of that extra fabric. Not to mention that they're incredibly hot unless it's only 40 degrees.

I went through a phase of wearing t shirts related to family guy/american dad/similar tv shows(they started selling them at Zara shops and the like and I just couldnt resist) and I got quite a few comments about having so many funny shirts so if it fits your personality and you arent an extremely serious person you should be ok with that.

This would be an acceptable reason to wear a brand name. Most people wear them purely for the social status.

I avoid any brandnames, logo's, pictures etc. on my clothes because they look very idiotic and I avoid clothes that everyone else is wearing like at the moment everyone is wearing these stupid woolly jumpers that looks like their grandma knitted them.

I wear plain colours and match clothing according to colour like for example I have a grey shirt so I put on my black t-shirt underneath, roll up my shirt's arms to near my elbows and I wear dark blue jeans which give me a dark look since I can pull of light colours and dark colours (some people can only pull off one shade of colours).

When I look at most blokes/girls at my college they are either wearing clothes that the media/shops have told them to wear or wear stupid band/tv t-shirts along with any other ugly pieces of clothing like tracksuit bottoms and that.

I believe I really helped myself with a clothing change. Story...

My mom used to buy my clothes, until I was a teenager. She'd buy Walmart clothes, and I always looked dumb basically. I hated it. In high school, my clothing got really bad, I ended up dressing grunge without trying basically. I'd look like, homeless, due to my mom's inability to sew, I'd sew my clothes and they'd look ridiculous, but I had to keep my clothes working, and my mom would never ever buy me clothes for some reason, but my sisters always had reasonable clothes.

Eventually, I started riding my bike again, and discovered Salvation Army. Salvation Army allowed me to update my wardrobe with last year's preppy clothes for almost no money. I've gotten Abercrombie, Polo, Aeropostole, Adidas, all those cool name brand shirts, for 33c a piece. Jeans for as little as $2 a pair for good name brands like that. I had an aversion to preppy clothes, considering they were the clothing of my high school enemies, but I eventually just became accustomed to them. I found out preppy clothes actually fit better and make you look skinnier. Really. I mean, they're not worth the price of $30 a tshirt, but if you can get, I don't know...9? preppy tshirts for the price of a Hanes, then they're quite worth it. I also sorta saw it as wearing like, I don't know, "captured" enemy clothing in some ways. What's more punk rock than wearing preppy clothes you got for free or super cheap? I got a Polo shirt I wear quite often that I found in the trash. I'm wearing jeans right now I found in the trash, an Aeropostale shirt I got for 33c, and my shoes were 3 dollar Vans knockoffs gotten at Walmart on clearance.

After I switched to preppy brand kind of clothes, I managed to do a lot better in society in general. Not really like, with women, as I wasn't really looking for that specifically, but people tend to just go "oh ok" if you're wearing preppy clothes and make less judgments about you. I say it's one of the smarter decisions made in my life. For me, it didn't even take too much of a specific decision on what styles to combine or whatever, just preppy clothes, and not wearing clothes that were too loose on me so as to make me look fatter than I was. Done.

Working out is pretty great, though, as it allows you to get more confidence, better your posture, get bigger muscles, etc. Me, I couldn't be bothered to work out until I pursued a sport, working out for the sake of the vanity of looking cool alone couldn't motivate me, but sporting could.

As far as leading to love, well, no. Maybe possibly if you're in a dance clubs chicks wanting a one night stand with you, but love, no. It is much much more complicated than that. I can even argue as I got myself better looking, chicks tend to not be as outgoing to me, as I found out girls are just as shy as guys. However, I still do advocate dressing nicely, as it'll sort of just make things in your life go overall smoother, job interviews, business transactions, walking around in public, etc.

I will not change my "style" for anybody.

I don't know what my "style" is anyway. I wear t-shirts and cargo pants and usually hats (either a Mariners throwback, a Blazers 5950, or a Volcom hat I've had for years).

Usually I wear button ups or a light jacket to work, not because I have a dress code but because I feel kind of awkward when my superiors want to make conversation about my tattoos.
