I'm no Rachel Maddow fan but I think she might be on to something here.

does the slow-mo-smiley count? i don't know. arguing with aspies over politics and religion has left me unwilling to differentiate fool from troll.

The bashing is coming from Rachel Maddow, whom is a typical MSNBC Troll whom is essentially their replacement for their last chief troll named Keith Olbermann.

What smears do you speak of?

I always have a laugh when politicians act like they're being maliciously attacked when somebody brings up something they said or done.

Herman Cain really does quote Pokemon and call it poetry, he really did get accused of sexual harassment in 1999, the two women indeed get cash settlements in return for their silence, he really did call himself "the Koch's brother from another mother". He really was a lobbyist, he really was Federal Reserve chairman in Kansas City, he really does support TARP. These are facts.

Cain a troll? YES!

My brain hurts just thinking about all of the stupid that has comes from the Cain campaign. I think this is the only logical explanation. I posted this theory on the other Cain threads.

Just for fun, here are some highlights of Cain's positions courtesy Wikipedia (given the informal nature of Wikipedia, please feel free to correct any errors, but it seems pretty straight-up to me):

Quote:
Cain opposed any increase in the debt limit for the federal government in 2011, dismissing calls for an increase based on "exaggerated scare tactics".[59] Cain maintained support for the Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP) bank bailouts of 2008[60] "without regrets", though criticizing the "picking of winners and losers" in its implementation.

Cain supports the war in Afghanistan[69] and the war in Iraq, opposing a timetable for withdrawal as equivalent to surrender.[70]
He said that the U.S. should aid Israel in defending itself,[71] and has said, "If you mess With Israel, you're messing with the USA."[72] He was the only Republican presidential candidate at former Fox News host Glenn Beck's Restoring Courage rally in Israel.[73]

In an October 8, 2011, interview with Christian Broadcasting Network's (CBN) David Brody, Cain was asked about the raised level of scrutiny received by presidential candidates and how he would answer a "gotcha" question "like who's the president of Uzbekistan?" Cain responded:
When they ask me who's the president of Ubeki-beki-beki-beki-stan-stan, I'm going to say, 'You know, I don't know. Do you know? And then I'm going to say, 'How's that going to create one job?'[82]
He further characterized Uzbekistan as one of the "small insignificant states around the world" and stated, "I don't think that is something that is critical to focusing on national security."[82] Cain was later criticized for his seeming ignorance and mocking of a country that both presidents Bush and Obama have sought to use as a supply base in the Afghan war.[83][84][85][86]

In interviews he has dismissed anthropogenic global warming as "poppycock",[90] and opposed subsidies for wind power and solar power while favoring oil drilling offshore and in ANWR.[91] Cain went on to say that "global warming" wasn't real but that "climate change" was and science has shown it to not be a crisis.[92]

Cain favors repealing the 2010 Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA). Cain, a cancer survivior, has said that Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) would have killed him.[93] Cain favors allowing the free market to play the largest role in health care[94] and strongly supported the 2011 Ryan budget plan's "voucher program" to privatize Medicare.[95]

On October 15, 2011 Cain proposed to build an electrified fence on the border with Mexico that could kill people trying to enter the country illegally. Cain said: "It’s going to be 20 feet high. It’s going to have barbed wire on the top. It’s going to be electrified. And there’s going to be a sign on the other side saying, ‘It will kill you — Warning.’" At another campaign rally he added that the sign would be written in English and in Spanish."[98] However, Cain stated his comments on an electrified border fence were just a "joke", telling CNN's John King, "Yeah, it was a joke, and yeah, I haven't learned how to be politically correct yet."[99]*

In October 2011, Herman Cain described the Occupy Wall Street movement as "un-American". He further stated, "I don't have facts to back this up, but I happen to believe that these demonstrations are planned and orchestrated to distract from the failed policies of the Obama administration. Don't blame Wall Street, don’t blame the big banks, if you don’t have a job and you’re not rich, blame yourself."[102]

A number of comments made by Cain regarding his attitudes towards Muslims have caused controversy, such as that Muslims have "an objective to convert all infidels or kill them".[103] He has been quoted as saying he would appoint no Muslim to his administration or the judiciary.[104][105] He criticized a court case – overturned on appeal – in which a judge used a husband's Muslim religious beliefs as a basis for not granting the man's wife a restraining order against him,[105] and has argued in favor of allowing communities to ban the construction of mosques, expressing concerns about "people who might be terrorists".[106][107]

Cain's position on abortion has been the subject of some controversy.[109] In interviews with Piers Morgan and John Stossel, Cain stated that he was "pro-life from conception", that it was not the government's role to make decisions about abortion, and in the interview with Stossel that "abortion should not be legal". His seemingly contradictory statements alarmed pro-life activists and other social conservatives, who accused Cain of echoing pro-choice reasoning and questioned his dedication to outlawing abortion.[110][111] Cain sought to address these concerns by emphasizing his commitment to outlawing abortion and to de-funding Planned Parenthood.[110] He argued that some of his comments had been taken out of context and described himself as "100% pro-life. End of story."[111] The Washington Post described Cain's positions on abortion as inconsistent, but noted that his initial position "actually sounds vaguely pro-choice."[111]

Cain opposes legalizing same-sex marriage.[112][113] He supports the Defense of Marriage Act.[114] He would seek to reinstate the don't ask, don't tell policy,[115] and would support a Federal Marriage Amendment.[110]

*Later said that while electrocuting the fence was a joke, he wasn't going to back down from that idea and that it "might be electrified."

That smile at the end of his ads really seals it for me. Look out Sacha Baron Cohen, here comes Herman Cain. :P
