Freaking out. People never want to move in with me because I am strange. He was my roommate for about 5 years maybe six. Feel like my world is caving in on me. WTF am I going to do when people won't move in with me because I don't seem normal to them. wtf wtf wtf.

Idk.. is it that bad? 5 years is a really long time. You must've been doing something right.

I hate roommates. I'd rather live in a small crappy apartment in the hood where people leave their trash in the hallway than with a roommate in a nice place. When friends live with you, they become enemies. That's what I think.

EDIT:
Heh, I sympathize with you on people feeling sorry for you. It seems most of my "friends" were "friends" for that reason or to take advantage of me. And I also get told I annoy people, too. Whatever.

I bought so I can't just get a small apartment. I have a small house. Roommates help pay for fixing it up a little, and to allow me not to eat ramen and raviolis all the time. Far from luxurious.. its small and cozy.

no replies to my roommate wanted ad yet. I probably made it too long.

tyPe liek dis yo and u'll get tonz of rezponses yo.

For ramen noodles and ravioli, well, I learned to cook really awesome, and can make fantastic stuff from like, rice, and legumes and stuff like that. Once you learn to cook, luxurious eating is within your domain for no money. Think of everything you see at restaurants, all the ingredients are cheap as hell. Especially if you eat mostly vegan, it's terrifically cheap if you're cooking it all yourself.

My problem in planning for life, I've sorta figured out a lot. One thing I figured out is, I don't wanna work too many hours. If I work too much, I then don't have the energy/motivation/etc to cook, and waste my money on unhealthy prepared food. So I gotta figure out just the right amount of work for me to like, exist, but still have fun. I sorta have this equation of sorts in my head, of time and money. I figure unless I get exuberant amounts of money, time is more worthwhile, as theoretically with time you can build, create, and find things you'd otherwise throw money at to have.

But...meh. Good luck, I guess. I don't know, I'm an unemployed 20 year old who lives with his parents. So maybe just ignore everything I say.

you are our future.. we (speaking for the old folks here) should all be listening intently to what you have to say.

i got my first reply.. i wrote back..we'll see. I did put in my ad that one of the current housemates is on the spectrum and that it would potentially be an aspie-friendly environment. so we'll see....

I am curious, did you end up finding a roommate? If so, how are things going with them?

I hope it works out.

If you want help with writing an ad for CraigsList that is likely to get responses, let me know. I have practise with that sort of thing. Smile

Crap like this is SO hard for aspies.

I can't tell you what will make it better but I really want to wish you luck in finding someone soon, and people here are thinking of you.

My brothers on about moving out soon and i can't say im happy. We get on well but things change for normal people, for me it looks like im heading back to the days of not speaking to anyone for weeks at a time. Not that my brother was interested in anything i said but it was nice to have someone around, i dont know how im going to cope with this year coming now.

I don't think that i could get a room mate, its not something that i'd dare to do. Not that im scared of other people or anything but its so unlikely to turn out ok, im so unlikely to get on with the person that i just wouldn't want to try.

The trick is learning how to communicate what your needs are. If you want a roommate that meets your expectations of a roommate, you need to be clear when looking what type of roommate you want.

There are many thousands of people out there looking for a place to live where they can be themselves without prejudice. Find some of them and you'll get along just fine! Smile
