I rarely see this topic in this forum. A bit surprised actually, since autism and seizures are said to be linked.
Anyway, I'm not sure if i suffer from seizures (since no doctor has officially diagnosed me with it) but if I do, I suffer from a nocturnal version (I have these episodes only at nighttime, never during the day thank God!! if it was during the day I could be doing anything and suddenly collapse to the floor) and my family doctor has prescribed a medication called Lorazepam. I have my doubts about whether it works though since I did suffer 2 episodes ever since taking a pill every night. The doctor said that the drug actually stops seizures in a patient if it is injected directly into the bloodstream while patients are having a seizure episode. Hopefully my seizures will go away soon. I'm just glad that these days it rarely makes me sick all day afterwards. In the past, I had episodes where I would throw up all day after having the attack.
Anyone else suffer from seizures? What treatment are you getting for it? Anyone had seizures at one point in their life and then it went away? |

I always notice threads on it. I have a seizure-dar.
I have partial seizures. I've never lost consciousness and my last doctor turned me away.
Most I have are at night too. Sometimes jerking, sometimes paralysis/loss of speech, sometimes followed by migraines.
I have to restrict my diet and as light sensitivity can trigger them stay away from any form of flashing light. No alcohol or any form of illegal drug too.
I'm pretty sure I have temporal lobe epilepsy too as I have the auditory/visual hallucinations and when my mood changes I know one may be coming on.
I had a lot of stomach pain once. Thought I;d throw up and it lasted for a whole day, but I never did throw up. Sometimes I wake up and I find it hard to walk. _________________ My autism blog - http://latedx.wordpress.com

I have the same problems especially when i m stress up or very agitated. I fit alot whether i m awake or sleeping.
Maybe your lifestyle is too stressful at this moment then have to alter and delete certain activities.
When i analyse too much in details or was on the laptop for too long, i fit too.
Avoid watching tv etc... for too long.
Regulate your sleeping hours. Have to restrict diet. I went on a macrobiotic diet, meditate and do light exercise daily. Go to the park for short walks daily. Swim once or twice a week. You may wish to try eating 1 tsp of raw garlic with some food and drink a glass of goat milk daily.
I fit for about 10 yrs. No amt of mood stabiliser and anti- epileptic medication helps. I think xanax and diazepam helps coz it calms me down. But i only take it in case of emergency. It is probably due to lifestyle if you are not born with it. Mine went away few years back after i change my lifestyle totally. Oh well, i m still living a very discipline life. I know that it is hard but you have to try.
The above helps me alot. I hope that it is of some help to you. |

I had a couple of very severe seizures when I was a toddler. One of them lasted over an hour. They gave me some kind of medicine to make it stop and it didn't work; they had to dose me twice. They put me on phenobarbital for a few years after that and then took me off when I was older. I haven't had any seizures since. _________________ If aliens come to get me, it won't be an abduction, but a rescue operation. |

Ah yes, I heard that sleep greatly affects seizures. Still I seem to have them when I'm usually going to bed at the usual time. Although the worse ones were when I couldn't get to sleep or went to bed late. The increase in sleep paralysis episodes are pretty horrible too. I've not had one in awhile though and I probably just jinx it. _________________ My autism blog - http://latedx.wordpress.com

I had them in 6th grade due to pills I was on. The teacher thought I was faking them until one day my lips turned blue and that got their attention and my parents attention. That was when they found out about the seizures. My school never told them before that and I think it was because they thought I was faking them. They still couldn't be bothered to call my parents to tell them I was attention whoring? That still would have gotten their attention. Well the school was lucky I didn't seriously get hurt. Seizures can kill or cause brain damage.
I was taken off my medicine and put on dapakote to calm my body down. |

I have non-epileptic seizure disorder. I have seizures when I am VERY stressed but no one can find a physical cause. Thankfully the diagnosis of Non-epileptic seizure disorder was there because in the past I would have been diagnosed with 'pseudo seizures' which sounds really offensive like I am putting it on Thankfully as my life has stablised a lot recently I have only had about two seizures last year and they weren't serious at all. _________________ I have ASC, ADHD, OCD, Tourette syndrome, dyspraxia and depression all diagnosed. I'm in there somewhere! |

I actually had one seizure back on US Memorial Day 2008. I woke up in the morning with a throbbing headache, then took some tylenol and went back to bed just to fall asleep. The next time I woke up, I was in a hospital room. My parents told me that I wasn't breathing and wouldn't wake up at all.
I had that seizure right after completing a very stressful spring college semester. I was really sleep-deprived during that grueling semester. Maybe it was the sleep deprivation that triggered the seizure. I am currently taking this medication called oxcarbazepine to prevent any future seizures and thankfully, I haven't had any more seizures since my very first one. I however, can't drink alcohol while one these meds. |

| I've never been diagnosed as epileptic, but I'm pretty sure I have minor seizures. Flashing lights make me feel very strange, like an out-of-body experience. Sometimes when the sun flashes through the trees, random memories pop in my head and my eyelids flutter. The worst is when I'm lacking sleep. Body parts jerk, especially in my neck. This is embarrassing in public, but I think people might just assume I have a tic or something. When I hear a loud, startling noise at night, strange looking colored patterns show up in my mind. I figure there are misfiring neurons in my brain somewhere. My father also had epilepsy. |

| When I was younger, I would sometime stand up to go and get something, and my vision would blacken and I would be unable to stand. I would have these odd tremors, and I wouldn't be in control of my body. They were always very short, never lasting for longer than ten seconds. I didn't tell anyone until just recently, as I have not had any since I was thirteen. |
