A while back my sister commented on something about Westboro Baptist. My sister's straight but she's supportive. In her comment she said the church was crazy, nothing worse than that as far as I know. Then one of the members started insulting her, calling her the classic term "f@g enabler" told her she was going to hell, and bothered her until she literally cried. I stepped in, asking why they had to yell at some 11 year old girl and said I was her older sister, but of course they said more awful stuff about my sister like it's perfectly normal for an adult to insult a kid like that. I'm so pissed, nothing was really done about it. Of course if we were to sue, they'd probably come up with SOME kind of excuse. _________________ Empathy Quotient Test Score: 63 Hmmm...interesting. At my old church, a guy got his former girlfriend out of Westboro Baptist. When they broke up, he showed up at her house, and he got a Burglary 3rd charge, yay! Basically, the church is all entirely lawyers. Oddly, the head of Westboro was actually really helpful in the civil rights movement, so I guess that's in his favor. I believe the head of Westboro was disbarred, though. But anyway, the only reason they say such outlandish things is to provoke people into punching or attacking them, so THEY can sue. You can't sue, it's "free speech" but they can sue you for your free punches. That's pretty much how Westboro works. As far as theologically, well, Westboro basically ascribes to a really perverse view of Calvinism, where Westboro believes they are God's only chosen people. They "warn" to troll people, but could care less about the world around them, as they see their actions as basically infallible due to election by God. But yes, they're lawyers and will sue YOU, and basically, don't feed the trolls. _________________ Too kawaii to live... Too sugoi to die!

Your sister is just an 11 year old kid. She doesn't know what she is, and neither do those people in the Wesboro Baptist cult. Those people are crazy. They use small children to do their bidding, so of course they aren't above insulting a child. These people are truly evil people.

Every single member of that family is crazy as a March hare, hon. There's nothing to be done about them but to ignore them. I'm sorry your sister's feelings were hurt, though. They are wonderful examples of what sane, stable adults should never, ever be.

The people of the Westboro Baptist Church just like to piss people off as much as they legally can. Period. That's all they live for. I honestly believe they don't truly believe in "warning us of God's judgment" as much as they just enjoy pissing people off, and doing so under the cloak of religious freedom and freedom of speech. _________________ What fresh hell is this?

^^ She said it right on, (descartes), the way I see it they may have had a slight prejudice against gays at first, but after the first picket, after they realized how much of a reaction they got, I think at one point it stopped becoming about gays and lesbians and they continued to do it just to get a reaction, to feed of the negative energy others were willing to give. And after all as previously mentioned under the law they have the full right to do what they do and not get punished for it. I think that whole family is addicted to attention and must like having people hate them. I don't hate them, but I think they are a bunch of trolls. GAY is OKAY!!!!

Nope, pretty much no. You could POTENTIALLY argue harassment, if it happened in person to person, but then again, they can argue that your sister was harassing them by calling them crazy, and since they have better lawyers, hell, they could sue you for harassment and win.

Either ignore them, or if you feel like it, go protest at their churches and see how you do. Again, more or less that entire church is lawyers. They say purposely inflammatory things to make money. So your best bet would be to ignore them.

As far as "warning of God's judgement" I was basically saying the same thing, but that's how they theologically justify themselves.
