Spirited Away
And it was quite trippy too, in a creepy way.
I loved it.
How is "Spirited Away" depressing?? O_o I actually found it one of the least sad of Studio Ghibli.
Btw, I generally love Studio Ghibli movies. They are quite sentimental. I agree they are a little creepy, though (the cat-bus in My Neighbor Totoro is probably the creepiest thing I've ever seen in an animated movie lol). _________________ At age 24, 4 months and 10 days I was officially told: "Congratulations! Edward Scissorhands- Tim Burton had a great idea, but he took this story too far in the wrong direction and gave it a sad ending. I don't hate this movie, but it really let me down. _________________ Do, or do not. There is no try.

Why do you always need a happy ending?
I just don't like it when a story ends on a sad note without a bright spot to make you feel better. Also, happy endings don't have to be boring. Star Wars wasn't. That was a happy ending. _________________ Do, or do not. There is no try.

I think it's better to have a realistic ending rather than a happy one. Just the straight forward bog standard happily ever after endings are just dull :/ _________________ Please, if you are a female don't PM, IM or contact me in anyway. Happy endings often seem a bit cliche. You get a bit tired of it... expecting everything to somehow work out somehow, no matter what.
The lord of the rings, the return of the king. Although the movie was enjoyable, (I preferred the book) I am uncertain as to why, but I felt sad after the scene of the grey havens and the sailing into the west.

Would anyone care to name a movie more depressing than Requiem for a Dream?
And I don't mean any kind of depressing, I'm looking for something that gives you that intense feeling like you've just been punched in the solar plexus that Requiem for a Dream gives.
Ponette, directed by Jacques Doillon. I saw it in a movie theather and you could hear everyone sobbing and crying and being generally miserable because of this movie. I think you could find it on youtube or netflix.

When I was a kid, I found Dumbo too depressing to watch
How can you not like Donnie darko and into the wild? They were cinematic brilliance.
I guess it is important for everyone to have different opinions.
Pan's labyrinth was brilliant so you have some good picks. _________________ “During times of universal deceit, telling the truth becomes a revolutionary act" ~George Orwell
