I love it, changed my life. I have always been an artist, doing concept designs, advertising, etc. Animation was so tedious that I never finished more than a few seconds. Now, mistakes go away at the push of a button!

I've used blender for quite a few years though I'm rubbish at modeling. Razz

I've twice tried blender but I never understood it. I want to make smooth, dynamical models, not edged. I don't even want to make animations since I know that it would take me weeks to create an animation of a few minutes that isn't only poison to my eyes. And to me, 3D models which are below todays hollywood standard and aren't consciously comic like are poison for my eyes.
I'd just use it to create more dynamical pictures, I'd render a high quality picture from it to edit it with gimp afterwards. But I can imagine, it would be to much work, sadly.

I look at is as electric clay. I got into 3D in 1988 I think. No schools, no books, just a pirated copy of 3D Studio.

I think it just something fun to play with if nothing else. There are a few "a-ha!" moments when something suddenly clicks.

I don't do 3D art, but I do do 3D modelling and design frequently (I guess those could be considered art depending on how you look at it Razz) , so I'll provide some input on some programs I've used. Google Sketchup is a really good free 3D modeling program also, I've used it a few times. It's easy to use (VERY small learning curve) and can make some really nice looking models. AutoCAD is also really good if you have access to it, but you need a really amazing computer to do in-depth 3D modelling with it, and it has a very steep learning curve. I haven't checked out the ones you posted but I'll have to see what they're like!
