I think a lot of this is being overblown. I'd worry more about Ron Paul and Barack Obama's views on autisim than I would Santorum. Obama almost had a massive coronary when he found out that an autistic air force officer commanded part of the tarmac force at the base he was visiting when I was serving there. Obama went so far as to demand court-martials.

For military reasons I can't reveal it. I just thank God he didn't find out about my AS. I commanded the other half.

It's really not all that glorious. I'm a survivor. No other way I can put it. If you read my posts you'll catch some of it. I also work hard and think about the welfare of those who serve under me. I give credit for my sucesses to the God that has blessed me and give thanks to both Him and my wife. People think I'm highly finctional. I may have a high IQ but functional - please! My AS is textbook. My childhood heroes were Robert E. Lee, Abraham Lincoln (I'm a distant cousin to both), Stonewall Jackson, U.S. Grant, John Wayne and James T. Kirk. These men served as my father figures. Duty has been a kind companion and is something I have lived my life by. It has seen me through an abusive and horrific childhood. Faith is something I acquired later in life, and God has healed me through faith in many ways. But I consider myself to be just another guy.

another guy with a sharp noodle on his shoulders. i read some place that the one thing that highly successful [financially, professionally, socially, psychologically] survivors of unfortunate childhoods had in common, was an IQ in the top two percent [132 or above, WAIS], and in conjunction with high EQ, this gave them the raw cognitive processing ability to power their way around/outthink whatever obstacles they faced. smarts are the great equalizer. since you are related to great men, that pedigree is undoubtedly a plus. i am a mutt in comparison, but at least a mutt among many. you may want to read about lewis terman [early 20th century army shrink] and his longitudinal study of successful people, which culminated in his book, "the gifted," some interesting reading there. |

I am a mutt as well - at least that is what my family tree tells me. I will leave it with a closing remark made by Henry Fonda - "Even amongst the most exhaulted, we all sit on our own arse." In other words, I am no better than others. I just believe that knowledge should be used to improve humankind - not destroy it. _________________ Supporter of the Brian Terry Foundation @ www.honorbrianterry.com. Looking through the glass,
Darkly I see,
I have fought in many times, at many places,
under many names, in many faces,
but always me. - General George S. Patton, Jr. _________________ Supporter of the Brian Terry Foundation @ www.honorbrianterry.com. Special Agent Brian Terry (1970-2010) was murdered as a direct result of Operation Fast & Furious - which Barry O won't discuss - wonder why? |

I died as a mineral and became a plant;
I died as a plant and rose to animal;
I died as animal and I was a man.
Why should I fear? When was I less by dying?
Yet once more I shall die as man to soar
With angels blest. Yet even from an angel
I must pass on; All except God must perish.
When I have sacrificed my angel soul,
I shall become what no mind ever conceived.

Yeah, I'd say Patton was headed in that general direction or train of thought. _________________ Supporter of the Brian Terry Foundation @ www.honorbrianterry.com. Reincarnation or not, I think I speak for all of us when I say that you make our little Aspergian island of serenity a funner and more interesting place. So please, stick around.
