I'm asexual myself, I think it should be LGBA (A For Asexual).

There are several extended acronyms that include asexuals, such as QUILTBAG (queer/questioning, undecided, intersex, lesbian, trans, bisexual, asexual & gay). But none of them is ever complete. QUILTBAG is still missing out on androgynes, pansexuals / omnisexuals, polysexuals, and polyamorous people. One could also squeeze sapiosexuals and gerontophiles in there, but I guess it gets too confusing at some point Smile

Perhaps we need to just come up with some inclusive blanket term, rather than these increasingly ridiculous acronyms.

I agree, we should use a blanket term, one that uses the most well known of the 20 +/- categories to put them in. We should call it something like... L.G.B.T, or something like that.

naw, that'd be too confusing. Wink

Androgynous people already fall under T (transgender is honestly a pretty big umbrella term when you think of it). I think LGBTQQ is a sufficient term, where the Qs stand for queer (a pretty big umbrella term itself) and questioning. Now can we stop worrying about the damn acronyms?

A pretty big umbrella term indeed. In fact, the queer umbrella is so big that we wouldn't even have to add LGBT anymore. Let's just shorten it to Q Very Happy

As for the other Q: Have you ever heard anybody say "I'm questioning?" Me neither. I think if anything, we should add a P for pansexual, polysexual and polyamorous (no need to make it three P's). A lot of people identify as pansexual, and many if not most bisexuals are in fact polysexual. But it also couldn't hurt to be inclusive of intersex people and asexuals.

Or we could just stick with LGBT Smile I'm totally fine with that, and I wasn't worrying about the acronym so much as pointing out that there are asexual-inclusive alternatives.

Hetero- just means "other, different" (thus heterosexual), so non-heteronormative doesn't really make any sense, seems to me.

I hope that everyone on the "other spectrum" will soon be able to agree upon an easier to use acronym. I prefer simply using queer gender spectrum or QGS.

This too. Probably the best option if "LGBT" isn't good enough.

I actually like that one; any option that isn't a massive acronym is a good option in my opinion.

I like it too. It reminds me of neurodiverse. I guess gender-atypical or gender-diverse would work as well.

Dislike. Because that would make me, in contrast, gender-typical, a label which seems to imply so many things that aren't true of me. Being happy with the gender I am and atracted men doesn't mean I'm anything like a typical female.
