unfortunately this is a naive point of view to say the least. those who "get involved" quickly "become part". government is far less malleable than the motivations of people. |
I'll take that. I know it's a pain and government doesn't move any faster than a snail in a windstorm. |

Drastic measures only? Come on... Way more drama than necessary.
Speaking of the U.S. Government, our system is a reflection of us. People who cheat on their taxes complain the loudest about crooked politicians.
The best way to have an honest government is to live your life honestly. Have respect for yourself and your neighbor. Getting involved at the local level is a great way to have a say in how your community develops and changes.
Writing letters or sending emails has proven to make a difference. If a leader gets enough of an indication of what their constituency wants, they have little choice but to do what the people want - or face unemployment. This is why voting is so important. _________________ Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass; it's about learning to dance in the rain. |

Start to plot a violent overthrow of the government and the government will have listening devices on you as quick as a flash.

very true, ruveyn. so expanding on your point, how do you think we should proceed? _________________ “Civil government, so far as it is instituted for the security of property, is in reality instituted for the defense of the rich against the poor, or of those who have some property against those who have none at all.”

I don't have an answer, but"
Mass exodus(everyone dissatisfied with the country immediately leaves)
I'd rather make other people leave. Besides, where else would a conservative go?
Coup d'etat(the people being oppressed suddenly revolt against the government, killing all the politicians they can get their hands on)
As long as people can get internet access, their smart phones work, and Starbucks is still open they won't be doing any revolts.
Mass suicide(everyone suddenly kills themselves)
More rewarding to drive others to commit suicide. |

Compromise never works in the long term unless you aggressively enforce it. Otherwise eventually they'll erode the provisions given as part of the compromise as less people start to care about it and eventually acquire what they want in the end. _________________ "Have a nice apocalypse" - Southland Tales |

One of our more passionate liberals swears that all conservatives cause people want to kill themselves.
I tried arguing that nonsense but to no avail so finally I just to hell with it and embraced the notion.
