I am wondering about that, I know a girl who says things and there are times when I wonder if she's lying about some things.

I think bi-polar girls are capable of lying just like non-bi-polar girls......but I don't think its a common feature of Bi-Polar disorder.

No, I don't think it has anything to do with the diagnosis. Lying is based on the experiences of the person, and what it did for them. I don't lie but I also think Bipolar is overly diagnosed, and you'll meet many girls diagnosed with Bipolar.

I'm a compulsive liar, something I need to change.

I've known some bipolar women & guys who lied a lot but I think their lying was indirectly related to their bipolar if it was related; for example lots had turned to illegal drugs & alcohol to manage their bipolar & they lied a lot to obtain em & to get out of trouble they had related to it

Well said.

I don't think bipolar is over-diagnosed professionally (at least in Australia), because psychiatrists would not diagnose someone with a serious condition like bipolar without proper consideration first, as it's a disorder that necessitates medication with strong drugs. I went to three different psychiatrists in the one year (trying to find a good one that understood both AS and bipolar well) and all three diagnosed me with bipolar, but none of them did this until at least a month of weekly sessions or longer.

You might want to consider that people with Bipolar can have psychotic features, in which case they might believe things that aren't true.

You might want to keep in mind that a person in either bipolar mania or depression is not showing their core personality. They are showing symptoms of a disease. People who are manic for instance often appear narcissistic on the surface but when their mood is stabilized, they may be extremely normal or even humble. The same could be true for depression. I have had episodes of severe depression and one of my coping mechanisms was to put all the blame on other people. I thought everyone around me was an idiot and I was the only one with a brain. Meanwhile I was hearing voices that I was an idiot, a loser, etc.... The contradiction is hard for an outsider to make out though because they just see the surface traits.

The other possibility is that the person may actually have borderline personality disorder. Please don't make that assumption though unless you have very good reason to believe it but some people with BPD are misdiagnosed with borderline and vice versa.

Some of the differences between bipolar and narcissism.

BPD usually stands for Borderline Personality Disorder instead of bipolar.
I went through a psychotic depression years ago & that's how it was for me. I don't think I was thought to be lying anymore than before but lots thought I was narcissistic & extremly judgmental & hateful

Oops, yes I misspoke. I meant BPD is often misdiagnosed as bipolar.

But yeah, I experienced the same thing as you nick. I don't think people thought I was a narcissist but in my mind I was extremely judgmental and narcissistic. I think it was a way of making sense of the voices, and it is not something I have completely recovered from.

George Costanza once said "it's not a lie if you believe it's not a lie" Is he psyhotic? I think he may be , one of the reasons the judge jailed the lot of them Very Happy

I guess it's the reason why he finds BSing so easy , imagine having an aspie have to spend their day BS ing to people all day Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

I guess thats one of the reasons why many of us are in dead end jobs how else do you get to the top with BSing and brown noseing people ?

Hard work Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

From what I've noticed, a lot of girls lie so they won't get into trouble. In fact, lying is probably an inbred human function that I am rarely able to pull off.
