I've been vegetarian all my life. that's how I was raised and it works for me.
Although it is just habit for me I understand that for people who grew up with meat there is the danger of malnutrition, due to lack of variety. I highly recommend checking out the Green Door- a great restaurant in Ottawa that has an astounding variety of local/ seasonal/ delicious vegetarian food. yum!

I went vegetarian when I was about five years old, and have not eaten any meat or fish in almost fifteen years. _________________ Maybe being different creates greatness. Maybe it is the diversity and the ability to cope with it that creates fascinating, wonderful people. ~Unknown |

I've been a vegetarian since January 1st, 2007. I've always disliked meat and have had very strong empathy for animals ever since I was young: _________________ It's gonna take a long time...it's gonna take it, but we'll make it one day. |

I like my pork chops too much to give them up.
I have a lot of respect for vegetarians, though. _________________ Feel free to drop me a PM, but it may take a while to reply. I don't bite, though.

| I have been one for most of my life. I hated eating meat as a kid, plus I thought it smelled gross (still do). Now it's mostly for morals. I love animals, I can't stand the thought of eating one. |

I've been a vegetarian for about seven years. I do it for ethical and environmental reasons. Gotta save the animals/planet! |

The idea of becoming a vegetarian appeals to me. It's mostly because when I think about the fact that I'm eating the body of an animal, it puts me off. It's rather gross and yukky. I also feel sorry for the animals. However, I haven't been able to become one so far.
Firstly it tastes great. I can't resist it.
Secondly it would restrict what I can eat significantly because many seemingly non-animal products such as candies etc actually have some animal extracts. It's a tedious task to check everything I buy for possible animal-based ingredients.
Thirdly, I'm not very confident that I can manage to get all the nutrition requirements to stay healthy if I stop eating meat. There must be a way to eat only non-animal food and stay healthy, but it sounds like an overwhelming task for me to do.
I think this old thread has possibly been answered by a not well-balanced group of people because the title of the thread mentions Vegetarian and that probably has attracted more vegetarians than non-vegetarians. |
