EARL, a bowling robot can play bowling better than skilled human bowlers do:

That sort of thing is pretty easy for a robot. It just has to repeat a sequence of moves over again, something robots are very good at. Passing the Turing test on the other hand is very hard for a machine.

Jason Belmonte is currently my favorite bowler.

I like his 2-handed ball release approach. The only downside of the 2-handed ball release approach is its high torque delivery requires too great a physical toll. So unless you really have a lot of strength in your hands then the 2-handed ball release is probably going to be difficult to master.

An interview with Jason Belmonte about the 2-handed ball release method:

Jason Belmonte teaches children about his approach:

Interesting.

The amount of precision required to throw the ball the exact same way every single time is hard enough. Making adjustments to oil on the land slickness of the alley - that could prove much tougher.

Still though 210 is about 100 more than what I can bowl.

I'd like to see the spin rate go down to a normal human speed. Is it me or is that bowling ball spinning ridiculously fast?

I'll be impressed when a bipedal robot bowls better than a human.

I was going to make a new post but it is along a similar vein. A robot juggling 5 balls:

As a juggler myself, I know this takes an incredible amount of precision.

I tell you the robots are going to take over the world.

In Fast Lanes Bowling there was a bipedal robot who can play bowling but this is just a computer game and we're not even close to creating something like this in reality.

In Chess for example, chess engines like Vitruvius and Houdini 2.0c can already beat most human novices and amateurs but they cannot yet match (so let alone surpass) the most gifted chess players like Garry Kasparov, Levon Aronian, Vladimir Kramnik and Magnus Carlsen.
