I think it is taking a little longer to load pages, not enough that it is an issue. But I have no idea if it is just me, or my computer, or internet, etc. _________________ www.wrongplanet.net |

| It should speed up as more users get on the site. Let me know how it is in a few hours. =] |

I don't know if it is related but the 'Community' button in the top left corner of the screen doesn't work any more. After logging in, to get to the forum index page I have to go into my inbox first to get the link to go to the forum index. The 'Community' doesn't drop down any more.
Edit: I've found the cause of the problem. It seems a third party site 'Cloudfare' has to be given script permissions for the dropdown to work. Since I don't give permissions to random third-party sites, I won't be using that functionality any more. _________________ - signature - |

The site content (images, css, js, "static" pages, etc.) is being mirrored in 14 datacenters around the world currently. So it should be loading from a closer location to you, at faster speeds.
The dynamic content is being pulled through each of these locations from the datacenter in Ashburn. This puts significantly less load on the servers behind Wrongplanet, and thus accelerates even the delivering of dynamic content.
This is very much an alpha test to see how well things work, so I'd appreciate feedback. |

Well, Europe is much further from me than the US where it said it was previously. It is definitely faster though _________________ Opportunities multiply as they are seized. -Sun Tzu

Hard to tell. I don't usually start noticing problems until certain times of the day.
I'm on cable broadband with a very fast computer. It's usually not until sometime late afternoon/evening that I ever see any real problems. _________________ MrXxx is taking a long sabbatical, and no longer moderating. |

Considerably faster - page displays are practically instantaneous and post preview or submit is noticeably faster.
Recently there was always a delay of a few seconds while "something" completed and the browser's "busy" indicator eventually went off, although it was often never obvious what it was: the page always appeared complete except for the occasional brief time when the forum status flags became mini "broken image link" symbols.
Also over the past couple of days post preview and submit operations often had several seconds' delay before they'd complete.
All this malarkey has gone.

Well, I've been on for about an hour now, during the typical period I would have previously seen slow downs. No such slow downs tonight. In fact, I would say it's screaming, not just in comparison to previous performance, but faster even than my own server right over my LAN.
Nice work! Pages are snapping quite nicely! _________________ MrXxx is taking a long sabbatical, and no longer moderating. |
