Yes, for sure. I was fired from the only job I've ever had because in essence I followed instructions too closely. Apparently if I was free I was supposed to look around to see if anyone needed help but that was never told to me and it would never have occurred to me on my own.

Yes, I'm terrible at this. I get confused about what I'm supposed to be doing and how, and worry that my lack of "common sense" and clumsiness will be exposed. Recent examples include putting the equipment away after baseball practice (not just one's own personal equipment - wheeled screens, bases, balls, mats etc.). I've driven my dad crazy, I'm sure, asking questions about where we're taking something and how, when we carry something heavy or bulky together, like a long table. "Just pick it up and put it over there somewhere" doesn't work for me.

Looks like I'm the first NT to vote Yes.

I'm a bit lazy anyway, but I only muck in if there's a clear task that I can see and that I feel I can do reasonably well, like washing 300 glasses for a party. When it's not clear I let others do the work. I feel a bit guilty but not guilty enough to try and figure out what I could do. If someone comes up to me and asks, could you do x then of course I would do it.

I also have a hard time helping out. Actually recently I am volunteering for a science education and conservation program, I was helping out with a field trip. "helping out" Kids come to our center and we teach them all about the microscopic animals that live in the lakes nearbies and we especially focus on vernal pools. However, when I say "helping out" all the other volunteers had a job one was teaching kids about our waterways and watersheds, some volunteers were teaching kids about our critters, and the other volunteer was monitoring the microscopes. I didn't have a clear assigned agenda and wasnt' sure where to help. So I just sort of stood around. I felt a little awkward. My issue is this I have trouble mucking in as you put because one people do not give me a clear agenda to fufill, two when I do know the agenda I get concious about doing it right I'm a perfectionist type, and three I feel silly doing the task at hand and don't know how to engage those I am helping.

I never have problems cleaning up other people's messes. In fact, I can do other people's quicker and better than my own.
