Felt like that for a few years now...where nothing significant makes my day and even when something different happens I feel the next day feels the same.
Anyone had this feeling? It's really depressing for me...as it makes me buy crap to make the feeling go away but I feel like I'm living just for the sake of living....nothing really being extraordinary.
I don't usually show this side of me, but I guess I feel like I should let someone know....anyone. _________________ Just a guy who gives advice and talks a lot. |

| What are you doing with your life? It can make a difference if your not doing anything significant with your life. Or is it just a feeling you have? I've had that feeling too many times before, thats the reason why I'm on medication but I'm constantly working hard to get somewhere to keep myself motivated. |

I work, I play in a Steel Orchestra, I have support every now and again, and I sometimes go out with friends on ocassion or go to a restaurant with my family.
It's not what I am doing that makes me feel like everyday is the same really, it's the feeling that nothing I do fulfils me (a lack of meaning).
When I went to High School, everyday felt like something was going to happen, and events would unfold....it felt like an adventure going to school...and even my bad days were memorable. I had moments like that in my neighbourhood too.
As soon as I went to College that feeling disappeared, and it wasn't due to lack of friends as some of them were there.
I pretty much think what TheDarkMage feels, but I guess I only felt like this for only 4 years of my life...I guess it's due to my age of feeling like I should be socialising and doing things I want to do rather then what I can only do as my limits are not very high...*sigh* _________________ Just a guy who gives advice and talks a lot. |

That sucks dude, I'd assume your family would help you get by really.
Do you get on with your wife's friends or your daughters friends parents? _________________ Just a guy who gives advice and talks a lot. |

my family is only my woman and my daughter who is 6. my girlfriends family is "interesting". they are decent people but i just cant find common ground with them. my girlfriend has some friends but they are all typical women. you know the type? men hating, diamond demanding bores. she doesnt reallyhave any friends but she sort of hangs out witht hem at college to get by.
my daughter doesnt see any kids outside of school except if we take her somewhere. she loves to play with kids but since we dont know anybody she tends to just play with random kids she meets. she has lots of friends at school though.
i dont really talk to people much. i have neighbour who always speaks to us. ive known him for 5 or 6 years but i have no idea what to ever say to him.
i struggle really badly with social contact. _________________

I see, families can be hard to talk to sometimes.
Oh, so she goes to college then?
I assume that you'll see more of her friends as well as their parents so you can interact with them when the chances arise.
I guess that isn't surprising...I know some of mine well but we never speak anymore.
I am like that too I'm afraid, but I guess since not interacting with many different people had made me kind of lose interest in life. (not suicidal by the way) _________________ Just a guy who gives advice and talks a lot. |

i actually dont see or speak to anybody at all. the only people i actually speak to is my girlfriend, daughter, my mum once a week and anybody else is just a chance encounter.
ive never met my girlfriends friends. i dont think she really classes them as friends, more like associates who she can hang out with while at college.
ultimately its just the three of us _________________

Oh I see, so how did you get with your girlfriend? You have some form of social sense to start a family. _________________ Just a guy who gives advice and talks a lot. |

we actually knew each other a couple of years before we got together but "things happened" and so we didnt see each other again and we lived in different towns.
one day, out of the blue she wrote me a letter and i wrote back and then we met up and no 10 years later here we are. _________________

For some people in this situation, I would point out that it is up to them to go some place or do something different, but you do seem to be involved in stuff. You actually seem to have a lot on your plate. My impression in your case is a possible mild depression, possibly caused by not enough rest. My recommendations are:
1. Get some rest.
2. Get some exercise--the endorphins will boost your mood.
3. Eat healthy, of course.
4. Read funny stories, and watch funny shows. That also boosts endorphins.
5. Look into doing some volunteer work. That can make you feel you are making a difference, because you will be. Maybe something that you can share with your kid, so you won't have to cut down on time spent with her.
Remember, though, that time spent with your kid matters a whole lot. You are very important in making her who and what she will become as an adult.
I do know that same ol, same ol, feeling very well, but I have reached a point in my life where I don't really want things to be too different, too much of the time. Change for me usually involves difficulties. With my other health problems, just getting out to run errands once in a while is excitement enough for me. WHOOPEE! |

The advice I would recommend too. Although the topic has gone way off. _________________ Just a guy who gives advice and talks a lot. |
