Stopping an antidepressant cold can have weird and unpleasant side-affects, can you talk to your doctor about maybe having some samples to step down with? Or switch to a generic? My last anti-anxiety med was only $4 because it was a generic and part of some program through my chain pharmacy (I didn't have insurance at the time so that was fantastic for me)

I've taken this many times before and when I stop, I just stop and I never have problems with it. Some I have had problems with, like Paxil. Plus, I've only been on it a month. I just don't have the money to stay on it, cheaper ones don't work for me, and I blew about $300 of our tax money on a dr visit and the month of meds. Because my husband can't seem to manage to get his hungover ass to work every day, I don't have the money for my meds. He's a douche.

The ongoing insistence on treating fat as a moral failure despite all empirical evidence to the contrary is highly amusing,
as is the implication that people with "too much" fat need answer to ANYONE as to what causes it.

Doesn't this basically hold true for most "extremes" when it comes to how you look, or what you do? When people see a guy who has huge, bulging muscles, they automatically assume that he is dumb and cares about nothing but lifting weights. If a woman is really slim, she must definitely be anorexic.

On the other hand: if you feel like you need to make an excuse about something, your subconciousness might be telling you that your ways are not the best.

The bit about gaining weight while expending more calories than you consume is utter BS.

Evidence?

US Army Ranger School. Candidates eat roughly 2000 calories a day and expend many, many more than that, and not a one comes out without significant weight loss - even though I guarantee you none of them needed it in the first place.

If you are consuming fewer calories than you expend, and you are working your body, you will lose weight.

I do know a person who I know works very hard physically and is still overweight, but I don't know how she eats or what else may be involved. I also know that dance, while hard, is not Ranger School-hard, or anywhere close to it. It's not the most strenuous or calorie-consuming physical activity out there, although it's still hard (for other reasons), but it is a workout.

The equation isn't in question.

The point is that for many people, to bring that equation to even an equilibrium requires near-starvation and inordinate amounts of exercise,
whereas for others, it means sitting on their rear and inhaling fast food.

My weight has been up and down my entire life, but there was a span of time that I was healthy and very thin, and that was when I had a personal trainer and was lifting weights. Lifting weights can change your body shape and speed up the metabolism. I don't know if this would be true for everyone, but it worked for me. Even after I stopped lifting weights, I stayed thin for a few years.

Here are additional items to add:
Work too much
Joints hurt too much (arthritic joints prevent many exercises)
Hormones are messed up (hypogonadism)
Been overweight for a very long time (set point is set to current weight and hard to change)

If you get several reasons on the list, losing weight is damn near impossible.

Um....are...we forgetting something before we made this thread?

There are still the three body types, and everyone fits somewhere in a gray area between them. Not only that, but weight and how much you'll way is part of the genetic makeup.

I fit into one of those naturally thin people who can gain muscle quite easily.
