I'm really shy and I have never had a boyfriend but I want one.I think the only way I would feel comfortable talking to a guy is online and eventually face to face but I am cautious too about dating sites 
What are your thoughts? |

| To say its a waste of time for a guy to try online dating is a fallacy I have met women on online dating sites befor. My mother met her current boyfreind on a online social networking site Facebook and coudlnt be happier with him. |

The girls are dating only a small fraction of guys because a lot of girls aren't really there for dating. At least, this what i noticed on okcupid.

| As the heterocentrism in this thread suggests, it depends on who one is and what type of person(s) one is looking for. That extends to personality as well as sex, however. If you are more or less common, and/or want someone more or less common, you will have more luck on more sites. If you are a weirdo (and I use the word with affection for weirdos), and/or want someone original, it will not be as fruitful. |

Do you come here often? 
Seriously though, it's only a good way to meet people if they live in your area, otherwise you won't find it helpful.

| It can be really frustrating, but I think it's the easiest way to find someone. Especially for me, being gay and having a demonstrably more difficult task finding a relationship than a heterosexual. I found my boyfriend through online dating. There might be a lot of people on online dating sites that aren't for you, but it isn't about them. That's the thing. It's only about that one person that online dating will give you a better chance to meet. |

A really wonderful thing about dating sites is that interactions do not happen in real-time. Therefore you can get an NT friend or family member to help you create your profile, help you answer questions, and give you a 2nd opinion about people you're interested in.  |

Have not had much like with any dating sites at all, but of course, as Face_of_Boo said, you'll probably have a much better time at least getting attention as a girl.
You don't necessarily have to limit yourself to just those, though.. There are a few threads here dedicated to it if you want to find anyone interesting enough to talk to. In my earlier teen years, most of my "dating" was done through getting to know people on youtube or other websites and message boards.

There is no guarantee of success.
Registering for the site is only Step 1.
It's what you do after Step 1 that gets you the girl/boy. |
