Anyone remember the gamerooms of the late 70s and early 80s? This was before home video games came about, and while Atari was there and while Ninetendo was getting started.

If you remember them, did you like them? What was your favorite game or games?

I loved them. There was one I would go to every night and spend the whole evening there. I went with my bf or sometimes alone. I'd take a roll of quarters and that would last us all night.

I liked Frogger, Tempest, Ms Pacman, Missle Command, Centepede, Donkey Kong. There were some others too, but I can't think of them right now.

I am that guy Smile I was very young in the early days, but my parents went to the seaside every weekend during spring and summer, which always led to an hour or so in the arcades. I loved the original Atari Star Wars and I played Defender but had to stand on a crate Smile I wasn't really into Pacman or Space Invaders at all, strangely. I have to say, I really miss the sounds. It wasn't until I was around 10 or 11 when I started going to arcades myself to play things like Ghosts 'n Goblins and some of the old Taito shmups like Tiger Heli. I do miss the arcades, but I do have an XArcade stick and a well maintained MAME library.
Maybe symptomatic of my age, but I find it strange in a good way that I can carry every upright cabinet arcade game I've ever played, on a USB stick.

I played Centipede on the Plug and Play and got a high score!

I also like Yars Revenge despite how simple it seems today.

I grew up on the 16-Bit consoles but I did enjoy the older Atari offerings and even tried out the Original Pac Man, Asteroids and Space Invaders. XD
