Is there anybody here from Ontario who are on or trying to get disability?
What were your experiences with it?
Did you get on it immediately or did you have to appeal?
If you had to appeal, how many times did you do it?
Any tips?
I just tried and got denied because I don't have enough in my pension yet...?
I'm going to appeal though, my friend said you can get legal aid and they'll help you get it. You don't have to pay them unles you get it. |

I'm on ODSP, I was approved the first time. I need to get legal aid soon though as they deduced what my mom gets from my father for child support, and they legally can't do that |

| It sounds like you applied for CPP, in which case your benefit is determined by how much you have earned. Try ODSP which is determined by your financial need. I was approved for ODSP the first time I applied. |

Yes, I found out today that's what I applied for by accident. Does anyone know if they'll send back my paperwork? I have all of my doctors notes and stuff in it. |

| ODSP has their own set of forms that your doctor will have to fill out. I don't know if you can get your notes back; you might have to wait a while. If you have a psychiatrist, try to get him/her to write a letter on your behalf - you will be more likely to be approved if a specialist has recommended it. |

Hope the disability office does not send you to live in a town that has a population of 400 people. That is what they did to me. |

I finally got through to CPP, it takes forever when you call Service Canada...He said they'll send the information back but it might take awhile. |

Why would they do that? |

| Does anyone have any tips on writing the last page where you're supposed to write how your disability affects your ability to take care of your personal needs, to participate in the community, or to work? I was thinking of typing it out and putting it into different sections like depression, social anxiety and developmental disability. I want to type it because my penmanship is really messy. Do you think writing it like an essay is too complicated or should I just write it on the paper even though my writing is messy and just put it in point form? Should I get my doctor and my psychiatrist to write a note? My doctor is filling out the other form because he has known my the longest. |

| Okay, so I sent in my ODSP package. I'm assuming it's going to take a few months for a decision. If I was to get accepted will I get a letter or will I have to go to an interview before getting accepted? |
