Very Happy Anyone play Final Fantasy XIII-2? What are your thoughts on the game?

I am dissapointed in how they made a TBC ending, I paid £50 for half a game and the new DLC for the story is only coming out mid May Sad

I played through FF:XIII-2 on the PS3 recently. I liked the first one better though. One reason is because the main characters in FF:XIII-2 are kind of lame. The time travel aspect was a little annoying too. It's still a pretty good RPG though. The 7.5/10 score it got on Gamespot is about right.

I tried the demo for it and wasn't really impressed. Then again, I hadn't really liked 13 either, and haven't had much experience with the series between it and 6(other than seeing videos of 10) so I wasn't really up to date with all the changes made. Combat system seems a little easier to understand, but it felt like I was always walking between monsters that were pushovers or, on the other hand, those that could kill in one or two hits, all within the same area. Other than that, the general controls seemed a bit awkward. Maybe if I tried the full game I could have found more enjoyment in it.

I do think that the battle systems have definately nerfed. Just one click and it puts all the moves there for you. I think that was a little too easy for my liking. I really liked 13 and I liked 13-2, but I just hate how they have brought out HALF the game. **I wouldn't give out any spoilers, of course not** I think they are probably going to make money out of bringing DLC. I already bought the Sazh DLC which was pretty entertaining, but I found it to be really short. I just hope the DLC for lightning that's coming out in mid May is more promising with continuing the storyline.

I actually read that the reason why they made DLC for certain characters is because some people didn't like the characters in the first FF13 game, so they are giving people the option to buy additional DLC and give people the chance to skip buying the DLC if they don't like the character. Although, why would you buy the sequel of the first game if you hated most of the original characters in it anyway? Haha that just seems really silly. I also think the reason they brought in Serah and Noel was because of the very reason of people not liking Lightning and Snow's character.

I didn't like any of the characters in FFXIII. They all seemed so two dimensional and simple. I think the main problem I had with them all is that they were all so cartoonish in their portrayal, yet the game was so earnest and rarely had time for humour to lighten the typical overly dramatic save the world plotline. Vanille was by far the worst, as she seemed totally disconnected from anything that was ever happening. I suspect the main problem is that despite the developer's desire to make the world and characters look as realistic as possible, the scipt is steeped in anime tropes.

Haha I know this is completely off topic, but I wanted to put this out there. I think your avatar is freaking awesome! Ponies are the best! *Ahem*

Now that that's done haha. On a more serious note, yes I see where you're coming from with the characters. Vanille did seem overly happy about everything in the game which was like wtfz?

I personally liked the characters, my favourite was Lightning. Lots of people thought that Lightning was angry all the time though and they didn't like the way she came across during the game. Also, I have talked to people who absolutely hate Snow.

Although, I DO like that baby chocobo in Sazh's afro. It's so cute. Very Happy

I'm glad I just rented FF:XIII-2 from Gamefly though. I also bought FF:XIII used from them awhile back for about $12 which was a great deal.

I liked the older Final Fantasy installments. FFXIII is a little bland to me gameplay-wise, but the story and the characters are awesome! I have yet to play FFXIII-2
