That's the main thing - getting her away from the Other Guy is important. If you make moves on her whilst he's there, he'll very skilfully make you look like a fool and she'll probably end up choosing him. You have to be confident and straightforward. Do this with a matter of urgency - don't let your inferiority complex get the better of you. If you do, you might as well tell her to date Other Guy instead.

Having the other guy distracted should do the job, ideally a friend might help with that if planned and timed right. Wink

Heh... this was a night from hell. I could tell that something was up right away, which is better than I usually do. After the film, after about half an hour, the other guy decided that he would tell me that he was officially going out with the girl. He was nervous to do so, and I'm guessing that was because he had picked up on the fact that I liked her too. When he told me, all I could do was say, "Okay then," or something to that effect, when all I was thinking was, "I'm such an idiot that I didn't notice that before, and now I'm so pissed at you it's unimaginable, but I just have to passively agree, as is the social protocol."

Something about that doesn't seem right...if you've been hanging out with both of them for that amount of time and both of them were officially going out, why didn't she say anything about it? Perhaps she had the same reason as the guy, but to keep inviting you to hang out with them knowing that fact doesn't really seem that considerate. If you're really that concerned, you might want to talk to her about it. Otherwise, it all sucks what happened Sad

She didn't say anything about it because she obviously picked up that Postmaster 'liked' her and didn't have the nerve to be straight with him. They'd obviously talked about it and it was becoming an issue, so the guy said something.

I don't agree with this. I have a feeling something fishy is going on. I think they "other guy" might be trying to block the OP from having a chance with this girl. I would ask the girl straight up if she and the "other guy" are indeed an item. If she says yes, then I'd just say okay and move on. If she says no then I'd say "that's whay he told me". And then take it from there. I wouldn't have closure until I heard it from her. Wouldn't it be evident they were going out??? Hand holding....something? I don't buy it just yet. Mad

Well, OK. It is a possiblity. Is the guy really going to say that, with the possibility that Postmaster may ask her and find out he's lying? Of course if he is lying then it's a bit of a win for Postmaster, 'cause the guy's going to look like a prize idiot.
How does Postmaster pose the question to her? *Oh, I was going to ask you out, but CHET/CHAD/COREY/ARNIE said you two were seeing each other.*

What he does is go up to her and say "I heard you and CHET/CHAD/COREY/ARNIE were going out". She says yes, then he says Oh okay, I had no idea". Then he moves on to the next subject like it was nothin'. If she says no then he says "Oh that's what CHET/CHAD/COREY/ARNIE said. I was worried for a minute 'cause I wanted to ask you out".

I'm totally not making fun of you when I used the names you used. It made me laugh-in a good way.

Indeed - ignore what Other Guy said. Hear it from the horse's gob. Smile

I asked her, and she confirmed that she is, in fact, going out with Other Guy. Sad

I feel for you man, I know how it feels to invest so much time with someone and things go in a completely unexpected direction. Confused

Don't you just hate it when your errors are quoted. Anyway, chin up Postie. Don't be a dick by not remaining friends with her.
