I tend to hang on to my clothes because I can't stand clothes shopping. But at the same time, I don't go around in tatty clothes, I do like to look presentable. _________________ Real gender: Female

I like comfy clothes. During hot summer days I wear extra-short and very baggy old gym cotton shorts and T-shirts. I wear mostly second-hand vintage stuff.

| I tend to wear looser clothes and I buy clothes at a lot of different stores like stores for older people. I usually mix-match my clothes everyday so I can get some usage out of them. I don't like tighter shirts and very tight jeans because I would like some breathing room. I prefer comfortable clothes than what some people wear which are tight and look uncomfortable. The clothes must be at a certain thickness because I don't like thin clothes. Also, I hate logos on clothes, period. |

I wear t-shirts and shorts most of the time. If it gets cold enough, I switch to levis or bib overalls.
The t-shirts are just plain colored t-shirts that come three to a pack. For more formal occasions, I wear t-shirts with words or pictures on them. The only time I wear regular shirts is for funerals and weddings.
In the mid 1960s, my grandfather bought a new winter jacket but hardly ever wore it. About ten years after his death in the mid 1970s, I started wearing it and wore it until it was literally coming apart. One time in the late 1980s, some old guy asked me about it at a gas station. He used to have one very much like it and wanted to know where he could go buy another. When I told him it was bought in the mid 1960s, he replied that was when he bought his jacket that was similar. He said that it was his favorite jacket of all he had ever had.
I finally had to get a new jacket in about 2005 or so and it looks in good shape to last me the rest of my life.
For socks, I wear white cotton exercise type socks no matter what the occasion. When I buy new socks, I buy three or four bags of them and completely replace my old stash of socks with the new socks. That makes it a whole lot easier to match the socks together. |

I wear clothes primarily for practical reasons and not for style. In warmer months this means plain cotton tee shirts in dark blue, green, gray or occasionally white paired to jean shorts and flip flops. In colder months, I exchange the shorts for jeans, wear a plain sweatshirt in the same colors as my tee shirts and wear plain, white Nike Air Monarch sneakers with plain, white tube socks. I do not like shirts with buttons or collars and dislike synthetic fabrics like polyester and rayon (but will wear a polycotton blend sometimes so long as it is not too scratchy). I will also go out of my way to wear clothes without designs, labels or name brands visible on them. Like most other aspies, I have also always had an issue with tags in my shirts and will do my best to remove them before I wear something. _________________ Uncertain of diagnosis, either ADHD or Aspergers.

| I wear the clothes I find comfortable rather than fashion reasons, usually hoodies, loose tracksuit bottoms, jeans. I dislike logos, especially mainstream or sports logos. Sometimes I buy clothes I think I like then find I don't like wearing them. I think it comes from hating shopping and wanting to get out of the shop as quickly as possible. If I find something I do like wearing I try to buy two, as I will wear it often, although I like to keep clothes clean. Cotton is most comfortable. I like tight clothing like compression tops, for the feeling of pressure, but wear loose clothing mostly. Not sure why but I really like tartan and checked patterns. |

| In summer, black t-shirt, jeans, nice belt, nice shoes. I wear these every day and when they start to get old looking I replace them. Easy to maintain and never out of style. In winter replace t-shirt with long sleeves. |

| You just basically told the story of my life. I hate getting new cloths and getting rid of old ones. I only do it because my mom makes me. I also make her pick out my cloths everyday because I don't care what I wear. I never wear things with that many holes in it though, I mean I always look decent but like if I see a sweater that has a hole in it. I'll try to fix it instead of throwing it away even if it is un fixable. I just recently threw away a pair of jeans I had for seven years. They had so many holes in them and I hated to give them up. |

I would love to look and feel beautiful but I have such a hard time with new clothes. They feel so stiff and itchy. Most of my clothes have to be made of really soft fabrics, and washed a few times in fabric softener before I can wear them. A lot of my clothes I have had for years. I love to shop, but most of the new clothes I buy just end up sitting in my closet for months. _________________ Aspergers, Tourettes Syndrome, OCD, adhd, sensory processsing disorder |

That reminds me with what one of my former teachers told me about when he was in college. He had a roommate who couldn't stand new clothes, especially levis. So what he would do is buy new clothes and then trade them for older clothes with my former teacher who was the same size and who had no problems with wearing new clothes.
I went to a thrift shop for the blind on a couple of occasions and got some really good, but dated, clothes. I wish I lived closer to it so that I could go there every month or so. |
