Maybe. Or maybe it has more to do with the fact that people with either diagnosed or undiagnosed autism only become socially skilled enough in later life, and get married. This (^)
also not just those parents on the spectrum but those who would be considered BAP (broader autistic phenotype)

My parents were both well into their 40's when they had me. They're also both NT introverts, which might play more of a factor than their age.

My parents were 31 and 35 when they had me. My dad has poor social skills so I can see where I got some of my traits from. Plus his mother may have had it and my mother thinks my dad's brother may have it. My grant uncle could have had it because I can remember him saying friends are lot of work and women so he never got married or got a relationship.

my mom had me in her 30's. and my dad was young in his 20's. so that article isn't really true. half

maybe. but what's with the picture in that article? there is no way of curing autism, at least not yet.

even if there is a way to treat, it would be like learning everything all over again.

My mom was in her late-20s when she had me and so was my dad.

My husband and I were both 22 when we had our oldest daughter and she's the only one of my three who seems to have AS. We are waiting for insurance before having her evaluated and then we'll be getting it done ASAP.

My husband is about as NT as they come and his parents were in their 40s when he was born and he's an only child.

Anecdotal, but still.

It is also possible this is a silly statistic. It has been well known that autistic kids were common from older parents for many years. However if you think about adults with asperger and other issues there is often a correlation with late development of maturity and changes that prevent relationships at a younger age.

Therefore asperger people get in relationships later in life if they do. Therefore they have kids who have asperger too. The main difficulty is that the condition has not been around for long enough to provide longitudinal studies.

This comes from an asperger man who is also a doctor. Wink

However all studies have to be analyzed for validity. All of this is hearsay until they find the actual cause and so far I have not seen anything to say that there is a cause or a cure. Also if we had a cure for it, would we choose it? I think we like our ability to analyze and think. Hence why we joined wrong planet.

Bingo. Correlation is not causation. A scientific principle more journalists would do well to learn.
