I'm so depressed, and dissapointed. My 36 hours or so on this forum has ruffled so many feathers by me talking to impulsive and being too NT.

I've attempted to come on here to learn and understand about Aspie perspective and I have learned so much and so much more than I ever wanted to. I've been too NT and I notice that I talk in a different pattern of speech and I guess people can't understand me or...

I've read how much aspies resent and hate NT's. The sad thing is my dad is a psychiatrist and I'm hoping to do special education and I REALLY understand all the dumb and naive things us NT's try to do in our misguided attempt to help.

In any case, I feel so isolated and ignored on this website, people have often skipped over my posts be it for missunderstanding or resentment (another grammer mistake).

I was hoping to not 'cure' or help aspies 'overcome' aspergers but make their lives a little more (see there's a grammar mistake, I'm undenyiable NT) easier or palatable or copeable.

To be honest, what I've read here is that NT's have screwed it up SO much that even if some NT's try to change aspies just resent us too much to ever make any of my attempts usefull.

Your taking to much into aspies hating NT's. I don't really see what use there is in hating 99% of people.

If you have only been on this site for 36 hours then you only notice the more out there views. Such as "NT's are evil". Tried to spend 2 weeks here at least, participating and lurking some.

You can ask simple stuff like (on random) do you love peanut butter? my favorite is crunchy. Or more serious stuff about autism or philosophy. The reason I don't have very many spelling errors is that macs have spell check.

The reason I don't have all that many grammar errors- there is an edit button

I've been on this forum long enough to piss off plenty of people. I have a special knack for it, though I have been annoying in general for pretty much all my life. Some people are just better at making people mad than others. Sorry you feel like you don't belong.

I don't detest neurotypical people, I don't expect them to know everything about aspies just like aspies don't know how neurotypical people think. I detest when anybody...aspie, neurotypical or whomever are ignorant of people. Everybody should be treated with respect and have an open-mind. Everybody needs to look at every person as an individual with different needs and different traits.

Why do you take it upon yourself to do this?

Sigh..., becasue a teacher hopes to see all of their students 'grow' and do better particularly with their shortcomings. The best that a teacher could be or do is not to simply 'pour' a lot of knowledge into kid's heads but to see kids grow as people. I hope all good teachers have this desire. I don't even know if that's right anymore Crying or Very sad I want to teach. Thanks for the support.

I don't hate all NTs or any body else except bad people. I even have a policy of dropping bad people from the hate list if they reform.

I think you have been tunnel vision focusing on posts that are negative towards NTs. Also, I think you have the unrealistic expectation that everyone will be your instant friend just because you want to help us. I think it's great that you want to help us, but people need time to get to know one another before becoming friends. Also, this site provides a number of functions, including as a place to vent/rant. I have had bad experiences myself with NTs, and reserve the right to dislike people who done me wrong, but I don't hate all NTs just because some are creeps. I am sure there are some nasty Aspies, too.

You need to spend more time and check out some of the other forums here. Personally, I like the site, although I am not always thrilled with every post.

Well I don't know I've seen any of your posts, but I have no hate towards neurotypicals....and I'm not the only one who doesn't. And well not everyone want's to be changed....I don't really want to be neurotypical. But it has nothing to do with disliking anyone I just see nothing wrong with functioning differently than a neurotypical.

thanks questor. I didn't expect people to be my friends but I wanted to talk and find things out.

After I wrote on active threads people stopped writing but sometimes ignored it. I started reading about how NT's and aspies think completely different and I thought oh perhaps it's a communication problem. Then I read about what people hate or can't understand about NT's and all that made me question if I should even bother teaching in the first place.

A teacher wants students to grow. If students resent their teacher, then they don't grow and infact can regress. If a teacher doesn't push their students to grow then that teacher failed in their duty. It's like a catch-22.

The scariest and most fearful thing for me is thinking about the possibility of students hating and resenting my class, instead of finding the class helped them a bit.

Then this site is probably a good place for you to learn something. On the flipside I'm a preschool teacher and it was really hard for me at first to learn about people and life. Then there are things that you have to do like be assertive, try and show your emotions, etc. I tried it for awhile and even though I did my job well I found it way too mentally tiring so I'm switching fields and going back to college. I'm so glad that I took the Early Childhood program in college though, I learned so much and it helped me with my confidence, emotions and assertiveness. I'm not as selfish as I used to be and I'm comfortable around all ages of children now. I've worked with children who have behaviour problems and all kinds of medical/mental disorders. I've worked in preschools, daycare centers, schools, parent resource centers and home daycare.

thank you lost girl. I was initially indifferent to special ed. I got my bachelor's in history and I thought about teaching but didn't. I found myself training people at work. I decided to go back to grad school for teaching, secondary education specializing in history. I just didn't think of anything else.

I was attached to several classrooms around the city to do observation. Each classroom's teacher has to evaluate the grad students. All of my teachers wrote that I was very observant to individual students behaviors and recommended that I pursue special ed. They said I'd also be a good history teacher but a talented special ed teacher.

I had a terrible time with assertiveness, the kids walked all over me but they learned. I found a kid who was drawing instead of writing the types of plants in a forest. (gardner's multiple intelligence visual learner). I had him finish writing the plants, then I told his group they had to draw the forest and the boy was to be in charge of the drawing. He was happy and he was learning. He could then describe the animals and the climate. I'll never forget that kid.

I've just switched from a secondary ed history to special ed.

I think the best teachers are the ones who learn from their students.

I don't hate NTs Smartalex. I'm new here too, and I'm autistic, and so far I feel very invisible like I'm skipped over too. There have been responses to some of my posts, but I was expecting more. Maybe it will happen for us. I need a friend and have been hoping to get one here. Maybe it'll happen. Maybe we're looking too hard and expecting too much too quickly. I think it's nice that you've come here on this site.
