| My thoughts? You can't really "fix" them without doing some really in-depth cost vs. benefit analysis to ensure that the least amount of "collateral damage" results from whatever changes are made. Unfortunately, "changing the system" in the context of American politics always plays out as the the "minority" party wresting power back from the "majority" party, and the average person doesn't think critically enough to see past this ruse. |

Shays' Rebellion. |
Suppressing Shay's rebellion did not need a central government over all the states.

No, but it demonstrated the need for a federal army to address national security issues. This is a problem that required a federal approach unless states agreed to keep buying protection from the private sector. _________________ "Sex, streams, friends accessing private members... I want to see that kind of force in legal and accountable hands.
I do not think our private sector can produce a sufficiently strong armed force given the conditions in the world today.

| ruveyn - I believe Blackrock(or some similar name) showed in Iraq why you are concerned about private armies. Unfortunately they are already here. |

You mean Blackwater, which is now known as Academi.
Interestingly enough, our current administration carries over yet another Dubya tradition and continues to keep them on the government payroll so to speak. |
