I have a master's degree, it didn't make me sexier, it didn't make me more visible.
What made me sexier is working out, yes...the looks part. |
I dont understand who around here even dares question that women would care about looks as much if not more than the other things about someone. |
If you are by any chance referring to me:
I dont question that women care about looks. However I also dont question that males do as well and I have to make sure that the rules are being followed.
The rules state that no generalizations should be made(theres even a sticky dedicated to clarifying that at the top of this section which I encourage you all to read every now and then just to avoid any possible future misunderstandings).
Now I can either start locking every thread that goes down the generalization path and hope that people eventually stop or I can try to provide a different point of view.
Hopefully you can see which of the approaches above is most reasonable. |

| I thought attraction takes major role in relationships? Like having higher qualifications etc. Thats why ABS was suggesting on it according to their data. |

i wasnt refering to anyone specific, but in general to the vibe around here. BOTH men and women focus on the same things in a partner. The biggest difference is what we use to find one. A good looking guy/girl can get away with a lot based on looks alone (not saying they have bad personalities or arent smart or what not), now a average guy usually tries to show something about himself to interest women. Some use possesions, others wit, theres the few that play an act, but in general they are making up for being average. Average women make up for it (and this varies by culture) by showing things about her personality, or riding on looks, usually done by showing off more skin or making poses and whatnot.
Also how is it a generalization to say that women care about looks too when I see women complaining about that with guys all over this place? |

Theres more to being "good looking" than looks alone. Theres plenty of beautiful people who just cant communicate well. Add in social issues and i can see how you may find people like that on here. That being said if this comment was directed at me i dont consider myself good looking in any definition of the word |

Education level gets equated with intellect, not just with money and success. Not all post-school qualifications lead to paid employment either.
I've found people would prefer to date someone with at least the same education level as them. |

As far as i can tell yes. im simply elaborating on this subject. Example from my past. I met this girl in a class in highschool on the second day, she had missed the first. incredibly gorgeous, just wow. So for being late and missing the first day the teacher made her stand up and present herself. I can say the guys in that class were rooting for the teacher at this point. Then she started talking. The attraction left like a bullet from a gun. Between talking in the most "bimbo" manner ive ever heard and her accent she turned me off, and i know im not the only one. Was she pretty? yes, but i would not call her attractive because of her talk/manerisms. Which are things that are physically involved. |

Its all about personal experiences and the great thing about them is that you cant make any generalizations from them.
I spent several years going to the gym several times a week.
One year I ended up school earlier than my friends and my mother kept trying to get me out of the house in the mornings, gym was near thought it deserved a chance. Somehow felt something great whenever I was exercising so I kept going there just because it felt nice.
During this two years I barely met anyone because I barely approached anyone.
A few months ago I was forced to drop the gym for three months.
It got me thinking about how much I depended on the gym as part of my routine and if depending merely on the gym was a healthy attitude.
I joined just about any club that was open to new members around tried to change my way of approaching people.
Thats the only thing that worked for me and Ive barely hit the gym lately(once in 2 months or something similar) |
If you were just relying on the gym for socializing then yes, it won't do much good for long since it's not the best place for socialization (people are always busy there, not always easily approachable...) |

I've only gone through high school and I have had three boyfriends and I have a special kind of relationship now with my last boyfriend.
We still love eachother but we kinda get f**** up when we are a couple so we decided to broke up and now everything is much better between us. Both sexually and mental. |

I think I'm pretty unattractive in everything. Thats why girls don't accept to date with me cause they see me socially awkward and bullshit.
Yea yea its my loss. I tried to get hold of lot of things what I wanted and it turns out good. In exception I can't get married because I never been accepted..............why its me? |

Qualifications are definitely a positive, but not the end all. I'd bet on someone with intelligence and drive but no qualifications over some of the uni grads I've met to succeed in life _________________ ...and his prowess on the battlefield is surpassed only by his skill in the bed chamber. |
