I myself am ver interested in star wars. But I have noticed that this appears to be very common among people with High Functioning Autism or Asperger Syndrme in general. What actually is it with autistic people & liking star wars? Let me know if you like star wars & see if you have any idea what it is about star wars that autistic people like.

Because it is a fantasy universe perhaps? lots of times people with aspergers like things that are fantasy (or the opposite, don't like fiction stuff much at all)

Why is Darth Vader so obsessed with things related to breathing? He always makes people unable to breathe, and then he's constantly breathing super loud himself.

Maybe Darth Vader has AS and "breathing" is his special interest. Idea

Don't see a connection. All my friends like Star Wars.
Slave girls in bikinis, lightsabers, superpowers and villains...
I mean, what's there not to like (jar jar, yeah, I know, we can keep on eps IV, V and VI).
Anyways, all my friends like it.

Episode III as well, they finally got it right for that one...

I've never really been into Star Wars. I'm more of a Firefly person myself.

I've met someone who think Vader might be on the spectrum. But I think he breaths the way he does, because of the injour & his mask.

I liked all of them, even TPM & AOTC. I even quite liked Clone Wars.

[Moved from General Autism Discussion to Television, Film, and Video]

Also, I have no idea what's going on with the quotes...
For no obvious reason WP gets really fussy about some threads and just makes a mess of the quoting. I've tried editing a few of the posts here, tweaking various things, but quotes are always displayed incorrectly.

It may even correct itself, possibly on the first page break.

I really mostly like Empire Strike Back. A close second for Return of the Jedi. None of the others come close.

I'm not entirely convinced that SW and ASD are related, but I do credit the films for inspiring me to find out more about my particular interest in movies and storytelling. I've since seen thousands of different films from all types of genres with both better and worse scripts than SW, but I always credit how that interest came of mine came to my realization.
