I probably definitely will seem like a noob with this post to some of you guys. But I don't care, I am a noob!
But I am extremely interested in learning about how the internet works. About stuff like: UDP, TCP, IRC, HTTP and all the typical internet jargon.
However I do not know a single thing about the basics. I am studying a degree in a sciences and not computing but I am still extremely interested in learning a lot of this stuff. I don't want to be a programmer, but I want to learn about how the internet works.
Can you guys suggest any materials, resources, sites etc for me to learn the basics from?
Thanks,
Joe |

| Type "How does the Internet work?" into your search bar minus the quote marks. You can also look up info on it at your local library. |

This is all covered in detail in almost every A+ certification prep literature. |

I've been browsing a lot of wikipedia sites like this but I find that they don't really do a good job of explaining things in laymans terms. They kind of already expect me to have a working knowledge of the terminology and phrases but I don't! I'm not used to this because I have an extremely good working knowledge of science and when I browse wikipedia articles on science I can understand a lot of it I know would elude most people. I can know kinda see where they come from when I'm trying to learn about the internet. I just wish there was a resource where every term and definition was explained as it goes along... but I'm yet to find one! |

| Well there are inline links in the Wikipedia articles that you can click... Which specific terms do you need clarification for? I would like to explain but I don't know your level of knowledge. |

I found this which I have only just started watching. If it covers all the terms in the info section of the video then I think I will be pretty much sorted. But if you have any further resources I'd be very grateful!
