| I sometimes have moments when I feel "normal". They are very rare and they don't last for long, but for a few minutes I doubt I have AS. I'm not officially diagnosed yet so I'm not 100 % sure I have it, but most of the time I very much think I do (and I've got an at least 7 pages long list pretty much backing it up, written in font size 10). It's really confusing actually. It sort of scares me. Anyway, do you ever doubt you have AS? |

| I nevar doubt that I have autism. If I didn't have autism, then I would need to have a different lifelong condition with all of the same traits as autism to eggsplain eberrything in my life from birth until now, so I am always sure that I have autism. There is no possibility that I am a typical person. |

I'm a typical person a lot of the times. I'm not 100 percent completely different from everybody else around me. But sometimes I do doubt I have AS, whereas other times I think about my behaviour and thinking and I sigh and think, ''yeah, that's typical for an Aspie.'' But then other times I wonder if I am an Aspie or not because I am good at working out other people's intentions, and I can relate to other people in a lot of situations and I can instinctively read other people's tone of voice, body language, face expressions, and emotions. And I can express my feelings. It's funny because my mum and her sister were talking, and her sister has a NT daughter who is the same age as me, and my mum said that I open up about my feelings and opinions a whole lot more than my mum's sister's daughter does. That got me all confused because I know full well that she is not Aspie (don't write ''are you sure she is NT?'' or anything like that because I know my own cousin and I know an NT when I see one).
I know AS isn't ''all or nothing'', but what I mentioned above are the most common traits and I don't seem to have them.

Never.
I sometimes wonder about which flavour of ASD and which flavour of ADHD I have exactly (and about whether folks will figure out the underlying mechanisms sometime in the future and perhaps discover them as "new" disorders) but without a doubt, I have those characteristics as they're noticed by me and/or noticed by others pretty much all the time wherever I go.
The alternative would be that everyone out there is delusional and having common hallucinations about what I am like. I sort of figure it's more reasonable to assume that I really am like this, having autism and ADHD as of now.
But who knows, maybe I have other-weird-name-disorder(s) in 15 years instead if the world's going to change the details and definitions that I'll have to fit into then.

I feel 'normal' most times that I'm alone, in an environment of my choosing. In these times, with only my thoughts as companions, I begin to doubt...then something unexpected happens, and I'm like, "Oh, right."

I do consider myself as being different. But not sure about Asperger - even though i know i'm dyslexic and there's a strong connection between these too.
And yes, i doubt because i'm very empathic, imaginative, i'm very good at reading others (many told me i should be a psychologist) but i do have social problems and i can't adapt/or adapt very hard - also have narrow interests, obsessions and other 'funny' things. Anyway, i prefer to be flexible and don't label myself.

After studying and reading a lot of material about Asperger's, I have no doubts about my diagnosis. I know I have Asperger's.

Once in a while I wonder if I really have Asperger's or not. But within a few minutes something always happens to remind me that yes I do...

| Yeah I mean, I have quite serious social issues I'd say (even though there are people who are far worse off than I am), anxiety issues, I take jokes literally, I've got a lot of repetitive behaviour, obsessions/special interests etc. But sometimes I can't help but wonder if I'm making it all up to find an explanation for weird things in my life. It would be weird though since people around me notice my "odd" behaviour as well. So I don't think I can be making it up. |

Off topic but I love that cat in your avatar so much. I see it posted on 4chan all the time and he/she never fails to make me smile.
I doubt myself a lot, my parents tell me I was diagnosed young but they were scared of having a kid with "autism" so they took me to another guy when I was having a good day and he said I was fine. I displayed a ton of symptoms growing up, had a generally rough time in school and was only happy with my parents and eventually at pubescence only happy in chatrooms because there was no face to face element, it was easier to talk etc. I'm going to get diagnosed -again- on thursday, but I've seen several people already. They are pretty sure AS is not all I have but we'll see Thursday. I feel very strange and conflicted. I KNOW about all the stuff I've been unable to do that I've tried so hard at..but this voice gets in my head and says stuff like "you're just lazy and stupid and awkward, nothing is wrong.".
I do sometimes wonder because I think I have some classical aspects of AS yet lack a few other traits. In some ways I feel more severe in others less so. Its VERY hard to relate to others, even here I feel like an oddball. |

I sometimes doubt it because there's so much variation between us - I'll meet someone on the spectrum who seems 'normal' so assures me that just because I don't have as severe problems as others that I am still on the spectrum too, but then I may discover that same person may have difficulties in areas where I do not which makes me doubt whether I'm on the spectrum or not.
A few months ago I went to a local AS/ASD meet, with the exception of one member I was without a doubt the worst there in terms of poor social skills...everyone else was chatting comfortably, where as I froze, was unable to talk, stimmed and shook like crazy. I sometimes forget how bad I actually am.
