The Girl in the Window

I found this article. It's really sad and it proves that children need proper stimulation and nurturing during the critical early years of their lives.

Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad This is too awful... I'm not the violent type, but if I ever met that mother, someone better hold me back. Probation? You gotta be kidding me. That woman should be in jail and away from children for the rest of her life.

It was really hard to read it in a tiny little window I couldn't find a way to expand.

IQ of 77?? No excuse. ANYONE can learn. Not that she appeared to be making any great effort to figure anything out.

I love how the "experts" took one look at the kid and basically gave up on her. "Feed her antipsychotics and keep her quiet." Hmmm-- Same way they treated me, only I had a vocabulary with which to object. f****.

People f***ing piss me off.

And there are assholes out there who see "Asperger's syndrome" on a piece of paper and just assume that's OUR life.

People really f***ing piss me off.

'Scuse me. I need to go spit at something.

I didn't see anything in the article about them treating her this way.

I do see an institutional failure of the Department of Social Services which should have done much closer investigation when the neighbors called. DSS failed over and over. But it looks like the people in the hospital she was first taken to and then later the people in the group home and then special ed school did their jobs just fine.

Thank goodness this unlucky girl finally found the family she needs.

Yeah, Children's Aid Society or Children's Services or whatever you call it where you live hardly ever do their job properly, they don't where I live anyway.

That is very very disturbing reading. It does sound like the child had a developmental delay regardless of the appalling neglect factor.

Having been abused as a child myself, it's naturally hard for me to stomach it happening to anyone else. Regretfully, many agencies in many jursidictions are too undermanned to deal with the problems - or too bogged down in government paperwork. This in turn constrains the time that can be spent on each individual case. It's a very vicious circle. Some of the paperwork should be cut down for obvious reasons, but outside of that, sin is sin. It is a cardinal sin to abuse someone - anyone. Those people should pay dearly.

There is never an excuse to abuse a child. Never a reason.
