Anyone else into the F1 like myself?
This season has been better if you are a neutral and there has been changes to who's won each race so far. _________________ www.wrongplanet.net/postp5013377.html&highlight=#5013377

| F1 fan since I was 9! Yep, this season has been exciting. I was sad to see my favorite driver Lewis Hamilton lose poll but I was happy to see Pastor Maldonado win his first grand prix. That was exciting! I hope there is more to come in the rest of the season. |

I agree. Plus I love the fact that there are different drivers that have finished in 1st place.
Though Felipe Massa is really struggling with Ferrari which is a little... disappointing to see regardless of last season. _________________ www.wrongplanet.net/postp5013377.html&highlight=#5013377

| Well.. it's been awhile since the race ended but all I have to say is that the Monaco Grand Prix was pretty good. Six racers were all bunched up at the very end and Mark Webber took home the "W". He happens to be the sixth different driver to win a race this year. Will we see a 7th different driver bring home the bacon in Canada? I guess we'll have stick in a see. |

| I LOVE F1, been obsessed since 1996! My favourite driver atm is Raikkonen (was a fan first time round although my favourite driver ever is Hakkinen), and this season is one of my favourites in the last 10 years. I love that there's been 6 different winners so far, and that the driving's getting more strategic again. My favourite season ever was 1998 when Hakkinen won the championship for the first time, and my favourite race was Belgium 1998 when Hill won for Jordan. Would love to see Raikkonen win in Canada... |

I used to enjoy Formula 1 as a child purely due to the Drivers and Teams. The drivers were bigger characters and the teams more iconic. Back in 1998-2001 we had the epic McLaren Ferrari duels between Hakkinen & Schumacher. Hakkinen the man of few words against the controversial Schumacher. Williams struggling to reach their previous heights experienced with Hill & Villeneuve who went to Jordan & BAR respectively. Stewart (later Jaguar F1) and Prost brought legendary names back to the sport, and who could forget minnows Arrows & Minardi? Of course the 10, 6, 4, 3, 2, 1 point system still existed at the time. Who can forget Hakkinen crying in the wood at the Monza, Schumacher accusing Coulthard of trying to kill him, Jordans miracle 1-2 in Belgium 1998?
2002-2004 were a bit boring due to the Schumacher domination, however 2005 & 2006 really got the interest back. McLaren with exciting youngsters Raikkonen & Montoya, Raikkonen the maverick and Montoya the volatile Columbian, the Schumacher-Ferrari-Ross Brawn domination coming to an end thanks to Alonso and Renault.
2007 was a brilliant season, Raikkonen left McLaren for Ferrari, McLaren brought in double world champion Alonso to bring home the teams first title since Hakkinen, added to this Hamilton had the most impressive rookie season of decades. The whole controversy of Honda, McClaren & Ferrari leaving F1 and making a rival competition, added to McLarens internal feud resulting in Raikkonen pipping Hamilton & Alonso at the final race. Who could forget the McLaren espionage resulting in team disqualification from the constructors championship?
2008 was also brilliant. Alonso stormed out of McLaren back to Renault who were uncompetitive who later got embroiled in a race fixing scandal. Massa running Hamilton all the way winning the final race in Brazil, momentarily winning the drivers championship. It took a final corner overtake for Hamilton to be world champion.
2009 is my favourite of all time. It was the perfect fairytale season. Brawn GP was formed overnight from the ashes of Honda F1, with Jensen Button jumping out to a massive championship lead in a car that had not even seen an air tunnel or been tested in the pre-season. Long term superpowers Ferrari & McLaren fell into mediocrity and previous world champions Hamilton, Raikkonnen & Alonso all uncompetitive. We saw the rise of young superstar Sebastien Vettel and Red Bull Racing.
Since 2010 I have lost interest again. The new points system is for lack of a better word stupid. The drivers have lacked the class of previous years. Hamilton has been known to blame poor races on his team and car (and even ask if he is penalised more for being black). Vettel has shown petulance in recent times when not getting the performance superiority he is used to from his car. Thankfully some class has returned to the field with Schumacher & Raikkonen making appearances. Hopefully as this season it might be more interesting! |

| I cannot stand Hamilton. He is arrogant, petulant and a bad loser. |

I used to watch F1 baaack when Juan Pablo Montoya played for Williams, out of patriotism. But he turned out to be quite arrogant, and switched to nascar, and there went my interest. _________________ Verily I have often laughed at weaklings who thought themselves good because they had no claws. - Nietzsche |

| I'm a motorsports engineering student. I like F1, but I like MotoGP, NASCAR and DTM more. Too much politics in F1 and at Monaco, there were only 9 passes in the whole race. My prof from last yr now works for Williams F1. He was race engineer for Nick Heidfeld for a yr at Sauber. In case you didn't notice, motorsports is my obsession. |

Any thoughts on the forthcoming race at the new Circuit of the Americas track in Austin, Texas, USA?
