Obviously all murders are horrible celeb or non-celeb, but there is that sense of shock and disbelief when a well-known face dies, especially when it was because of murder. So what would have shocked you the most?

For me, even though I am 19, it has to be Sharon Tate's. I have not seen her films but when I was looking up about Charles Manson ( I have heard of him years ago, but never knew why is was so hated and why he had this "family", but now i do)
I came across an stricle about her murder. and it has to be the most horrific thing I ever heard. 8 and half months pregnant, adn stabbed to death by this well known cult, with no mercy. Sad Horrible.

What about you, what would be the worst one you have ever heard about?

Yeah, Sharon Tate's would still be the worst that I've ever heard of. But hers didn't impact me that much at the time. I was also a kid when President Kennedy was killed, and although his death might not have been as gruesome as Tate's, it was so public, and he was such a loved and respected figure, that made it extremely upsetting on a broader scale than Tate's. She wasn't that well-known an actress, and the publicity was I think moderated at the time - or maybe it was such a sensational event that we just didn't believe it at once, and it only later sank in once Manson was caught (or later when the book and movie came out) how very gruesome those killings were.

Tate's for sick gruesomeness, Kennedy's for public impact. Robert Kennedy and Martin Luther King Jr. came very close as well. All were horribly senseless.

But I really don't like to think about it.

The murder of John Lennon was a bad one.

Judith Barsi easily. If you don't recognize the name she did the voices of numerous diminutive characters in animated children movie's, most notably portraying Ducky in The Land Before Time . Her father, an abusive, paranoid alcoholic shot his wife and daughter to death, poured gasoline all over their bodies, set them ablaze and then shot himself in the head.

Yup, yup, yup!

This is 100% true and not an urban legend.

Phil Hartman. I don't know the exact details of how he was killed by his wife in a murder-suicide, but I'll miss him for being Canadian-born, his antics on SNL, and most of all his Troy Maclure Character on The Simpsons.

"Hi, I'm Troy Maclure. You may remember me from such drunk-driving films as Alice's Adventures through the Windshield and Designated Drivers: The Live Saving Nerds..."

In Britain we had a wierd celebrity murder in the 1990's. A TV presenter called Jill Dando was shot in the head by a complete stranger outside her own house. Apparently nobody knows why it happened.

Barry George, who has Aspergers and some psychiatric disorders, served 8 years for the murder, then was acquitted. They still haven't arrested any other suspects.

Really? There used to be a show here on public access called "Kurt Cobaine was murdered". I guess people can believe what ever they want.

As far as I know, Kennedy and Tupac were murdered rather quickly. Kennedy was shot in the head and arrived at the hospital pretty much braindead, and Tupac was shot, brought into an artificial coma and died soon after. As for conspiracy theories about the murder of several celebrities, I usually assume the most likely explanation to be true. Tupac was shot by some hoodlums who'd apparently been after him for a while, and Cobain shot himself.

Some people on this list died in rather nasty ways.

The murder that shocked me the most when I heard about it, personally, was Pim Fortuyn's. He was a popular politician, but he was shot a week before the elections. It was really awful - there is a photograph of him dead on the parking lot of a television studio. He was shot by an environment activist who said Fortuyn 'was a threat to asylum seekers, muslims and people on welfare'. I heard about the murder while at a swimming pool, because someone had heard and started telling everyone. It was very confusing, and a lot of people were extremely angry. The secret service also accused him of being a pedophile in leaked documents.
