My parents are big fans of capitalist economics, so they encouraged me to take a Microeconomics course this quarter at UCSD. Unfortunately after several weeks of it, I find that I have no affinity for the material whatsoever. It is useless, arcane nonsense. Furthermore, the grade I got back from my first midterm was a pathetic C. I am not majoring in any field where economics is important; frankly, the only reason I'm even taking the course is to please my parents and gather as many credits as I can for graduation.

I have one week left to get away with dropping any classes, but I know that dropping my Microeconomics course would royally piss my parents off. I am stuck in this terrible course.

Are your parents paying for your classes?

If not, f*ck them, drop the class.

The problem is, yes, they are paying for my college education.

Then there isn't anything you can do about it other than drop it anyway and see what happens.

Just tell your parents the truth. You don't like the course and are going to switch to something that has relevance to your career or that is at least of interest to you.

Me too, I know it is useful and I will need it in the future, but I don't believe it. It looks easy, but I don't like it and I can't concentrate in something that feels senseless or useless.
