| I am on OK Cupid, POF and DateHookup. Lots of initial interests and emails, then it drops off to nothing. |

Shrox,
Which one do you prefer? Please advise why. Thanks! |

I have had the most meetings with POF (Plenty of Fish). They are the largest free dating site.
I wouldn't pay for dating sites, many show you people "close by", but they haven't logged on in months or years often. |

Shrox,
I don't belong to any dating sites you have to pay for anymore either. In the past, I used Match (OK at best), Yahoo Personals (which I really liked) and EHarmony (which I loathed). I think OKCupid is the best free one.
Perhaps, the best way to meet people is at IRL venues. But when you are in your forties, it's hard! I would never date someone with whom I work. I think the best case scenario is to meet people to date through people you know. Unfortunately, my friends don't know anyone to hook me up with now .. . .. . |

If I do happen to strike up a conversation in a line/queue, or just out somewhere, I don't how to go any further. The few times I did ask if a lady wanted to exchange numbers or maybe talk some more, they just kind of acted like they just tasted a lemon or something. |

Sorry to hear that Shrox! Perhaps, the old adage "Nothing ventured, nothing gained" is appropriate when you couple it with tenacity! Sooner or later - the right lady is going to see how wonderful you are and you will be off the market!!! Hang in there!!!! You will prevail!!! |

I do not know if being older makes me odder in that i find all of the online date things just a bit creepy to how i function. It may be my age and more then likely the limitations of living on disability. _________________ The Truth is out there, it just may not be what you want or expect |

I also find it a bit creepy and completely overwhelming. Ive made several attempts on all the usual sites and always end up deleting them within a week. |

| I got fooled by Christianmingle, basically just another version of Match or Yahoo personals. I am tempted to try AspAff but there may only be 20somethings there and I don't feel like another profile writing session |

As a scientist, I always wondered why all those women advertising for blokes in the local paper prized thin-layer chromatography so highly.

About 5 years ago I met about 4 different women through eharmony.com without having my picture up or seeing theirs before meeting in person. All nice women but all were either not attractive to me or obese. I have always been skinny and want to marry a woman that is the same in that respect.
I have again been back on eharmony.com on and off with no luck at all. No dates, nothing.
I have been on match.com a few times with no luck at all. No dates, nothing.
I have been on pof.com a few months now with no luck at all. No dates, nothing. Under income I am in the bottom section of $25,000 or less per year. I wish they had a "I'll tell you later" section for income. Women would think I'm either not working, not making much or I'm very rich. I have been tempted to change it to $200,000 or more per year and see how many women message me per day compared to the "3" that have contacted me in the last month or so. I'm 45 and I think 99.9% of the good looking women were married before age 30 or are lesbian or have serious mental problems. _________________ Male. 45 year old. Near St.Paul. Minnesota. USA. |

OKcupid is pretty good all the way around. I haven't met anyone from there, but I know several people who have.
Historically, pretty much everyone I've ever met or dated came from some online forum with discussion groups, usually locally based discussion groups. We noticed each other on line, or even got to know each other some, so that when we met in person it was more about flirting than awkward.
The rules of the board prevent me from talking about those sites, though. |

| I have a champion Airedale and I like to go to dog shows especially if my handler is showing my dog. I find it easy to talk to people at dog shows since it is mostly information exchange which I am good at. I went to a show last week and met some people at the show and the banquet afterward. A funny thing is they were probably mostly my age but they looked older. |
