Well I've heard this can be common for all teenagers especially people with Aspergers/autism.
Only earlier this year did I start to think about this and was incredibly surprised to find I think I could be a lesbian. I have found this incredibly difficult to deal with and I told my best friend who is like a sister to me and wrote a letter (the way I always deal with these difficult to talk about things) and she showed it to my psychologist. All three of them didnt actually agree with me- even though my psychologist tried to remain impassive- they believe my closer interest in girls than boys is a confidence issue and because I don't know how to act around boys. But there's a fad at school at the moment when evveryone is carrying bags about with topless men on the cover and I have no feelings towards this, but the girls on tv who are dressed/ act in a way to grab attention really do grab my attention. My best friend thinks I did have a crush on a boy although he did play one of my interests characters so I don't know if it counts or not!
Anyway I've rambled for long enough but even to know if others have/ are going through this that I'm not alone and any advice people can share at times this has made me very anxious an I know there is no straight forward answer I really just need support!

First of all; even though I am 56, I have extensive experience as an Aspie and also as a teenager. The only comment I can make is that only you honestly know your sexual preference. When you are alone and fantasize; do you fantasize about being with a male or female? I also feel your confusion has nothing to do with having HFA. Teenagers for millenia have questioned their sexual identity regardless if they have HFA or not.

I've been friends with bi-curious women and had met some lesbian couples too, they seemed nice people, and I'd never thought that they should ever have been anxious about their orientation.

However I think many people (NT and Aspies) would be highy self-consious about finding out that they are "not straight" if there is a fad at their school which goes against those feelings.

You mention a good point about "everyone is carrying bags about with topless men on the cover". Then you mention "I have no feelings towards this".
The more interesting thing is that as an aspie, one tends not to follow the herd-menality.

Out of those many "normal" girls who carry bags with topless guys on them, some of those may well be bi or lesbian also, but as NTs they want to wear "straight looking bags & clothes" in order to fit-in socially.

So in summary, physical and personal feelings on ones own sexual orientation, no difference between aspies and NTs. But feelings about fitting into the 'herd' , that's something that the NTs do better with blending in with the crowd, and aspies would choose not to do so (hence the anxiety).

Since gender norms are directly related to social norms, people with Asperger's probably are prone to gender-identity issues.
Being a man is about ego, which i have none.

But seriously, there's probably a higher percentage of LGBT's on the spectrum than NT ones.

It's not a big deal, unless you're part of a specific Christian group. Be yourself.
