I originally started writing stories because it was a way to spend more time being the peraon accociated with my interest but now, when there is a serious and weird amount of change going through me I'd love to start a story that is entierly my own- in some ways most of the characters in it could be said to have aspergers although they are actually a different specials of human. Anyway I wondered if anyone else finds it difficult to use unique ideas apart from their interests.

I've never actually written a story about someone with ASD. I might do that someday, though.

My special interest in computers and information technology has actually been a positive effect on my writing. I use the knowledge gained by indulging in my special interest to provide information to my readers. This special interest allows me to write in detail ablout things that many never think of when it comes to working with information technology.

History inspired me.
I don't know exactly of where my ideas are. I'm mix my own with other.
I think that everything in my writings is a little bit autistic. My characters have no diagnosis (it is also not important for the storie) but I can only write about a little bit autistic persons.
I don't know if my stories are good or bad but I'm writing for myself.

It's interesting, some of the things I have written about have become Special Interests.

Most of my characters are sort of sad, pathetic people who are placed in situations in which they are able to do extraordinary things. The problem with that is I often start taking on the characteristics of those characters. While writing about an alcoholic, i felt sort of drunk or hungover a lot of the time. When i wrote about someone Bipolar I started having mood swings.

So I decided to write about someone heroic in hopes that I would feel heroic and confident. Didn't work. Sigh.

Anyway, this character was an astronaut, so I had to start learning about the space program and space craft and Mars (his destination), and surface conditions and weather patterns and seasons and the complications of making a landing on Mars (and boy are there complications!) and the next thing I know...I'm fixated on voyages to Mars.

History and my love for military aviation has been positive for me too, if anything I want to research history more to get an idea of how to handle the conflict in my story. I think my writing is kind of autistic in that none of my characters are human, I use animals personified in human roles (not furries, think of Animal Farm or Redwall). For some reason its just much easier to write for that way, I hope I don't run into any snags. I've thought up ideas for human characters in other stories but its..a lot harder.

My lyrics writing doesn't seem to be very affected; it ranges the entire spectrum of human emotions, and has some intellectual and philosophical elements to some songs as well that even branches off into politics.

I can barely if ever write a story without invoking at least one of my special interests. I'm a very tendentious writer when it comes to subject matter.

What your mentioned is sort of what I'd love to do, I have came up with a story that involves bits aid almost every one of my favourite things, farm from my earliest memorable interest, the bow and arrow fighting came from both the chronicles of Narnia and the hunger games, the mythical creatures from the chronicles of Narnia and Eragon, the thingy with the government from his dark materials and Tyla the kelpie and finnick the dog from my love of animals!
Id low to be able to make myself fixate on this story and I really hope, once I've finnished the story I am re-writing that I'll manage to do this.

I don't consider it a difficulty, I was wary of writing until I discovered people writing fanfic. I'm sure I would feel awkward writing if I had a different topic.

I have never written a story from the point of view of someone with autism(like me), but just might do so now. Smile

My best advice is to, if your researching a historical subject, make sure you do a lot of research first before you write a story. I usually try to get a good understanding of my intended time period before I write.

Otherwise, just have fun when writing.

I am an absolute history fanatic, but I've only written a couple period pieces - one, taking place in the 1st century Germany, and another set in turn-of-the-century Pacific Northwest, concerning the real life outlaw harry Tracy - back when I was in college. Most of what I write is horror fiction, taking place in modern times.

I've been thinking about writing a rock album. In fact, I may turn it into a rock opera. It'll probably be an aspie love story, you know, someone dies in the end. Given my history, if I start this summer, I should be done by next summer.

My special interests show up in my writing a lot. I'll give my special interests as topics and interests for my characters. It has the added advantage that I know about a certain topic and can get into quite a bit of detail, too. Right now, I'm writing a story where one of the characters is an expert on energy efficiency, as that's one of my special interests. I also wrote one that has a cat as the protagonist, and is written from her pov, as I love cats so much.
