Saw Dark Shadows last night with MONKEY. It was pretty good. Better than I thought it'd be.

Dark Shadows - I loved it. It satisfied my expectations, which were incredibly high. Barnabas is very lovable for a vampire, almost like Edward Scissorhands but with fangs instead of scissors and a much higher sex drive. But on the other hand, Barnabas is also pretty manipulative with his hypnosis powers, which is something I doubt Edward would do if he had them.

The story itself is also kind of similar to Edward Scissorhands, with the beginning following Johnny Depp's character getting into light-hearted antics as he forges relationships and tries to adjust to his new surroundings, only for everything to start going sour as the movie progresses. However, the similarities end there, because while Edward ultimately wound up alone, Barnabas didn't.

The ending was satisfying yet seemed open for a sequel, and I would be ecstatic if one were actually made. But judging by this movie's poor performance at the box office, I seriously doubt it will happen.

The Raid - An absolutely incredible movie that combines martial arts with relentless, pulse-pounding action that doesn't let up till the end credits roll. Think Die Hard meets the Matrix on steroids, with novel uses for axes, knives, machetes, nightsticks and fluorescent light tubes thrown in for sheer entertainment value. Bloody good.

A few days ago, my sister found & bought a copy of Batman Returns
at a sale that was at her school. We didn't actually watch it until
last night with our mom.

Although Batman Returns is a movie from 1992, it still is one hell of a movie to watch.

Watched the original Planet of the Apes just now. `I love it.

MONKEY dislikes it because the costumes aren't anatomically correct enough for her, but she's not seeing what else the film has to offer and she needs to give it a chance. It's not about the costumes and effects after all, it's about the story and ideas it brings up. She's really missing out. Such a good film.

I watched Corridors Of Blood earlier today on IFC. This was one of Boris Korloff's latter, less memorable movies, where he plays an early 19th century doctor trying to develop anesthesia by experimenting on himself, and getting addicted. Also starred a very young Christopher Lee as a scarred faced, homicidal thug.

I just watched the last 30 minutes of Midway with my dad this afternoon then we watched all of The Redtails, a "retelling" of the exploits of the Tuskegee(African american) Airmen in WW2, directed by George Lucas. We were both kind of disappointed and felt the movie was full of sh**, hoping more for something with more historical accuracy regarding this unique (at the time) air squadron. Turns out everything in the movie was complete fiction just about, also I KNEW the guy was going to die once he asked the Italian girl to marry him..geeze Rolling Eyes

Men in Black 3. If the Doctor was there, they would have a whole lot of explaining to do for him, especially since this alien monster is really screwing up time with that device.

I love that movie! It's one of my favorite Johnny Depp performances. Very Happy Mort has so many quotable lines. My favorites are:

"Chiiicoooo.... Don't be discouuuraaaged..." and "I killed a mirror. And my shower door."
