Well as a lot of us seem to I suffer with what, for me is one of the worst parts of being an Aspie, with changing special interests and I used to often get 'me' time between my interests. I haven't had this for over five years and I feel like I could be going into one of these times and I don't know how to cope with this. There are two things happening at the moment which haven't before and I wondered if anyone else has experienced any of this! Not knowing what to do is making me anxious to the point I feel sick!
What is going on is that I really don't want to leave my subject. This is unusual from what I've heard most people really feel they're ready to move on, for my past three or four interests I've moved from one to the other and then I was ok because I had another interest. This time I don't know if I'm struggling because I am a lot more nervous and uneasy about the consequences of this or if I honestly don't want to leave it, has anyone else ever felt this??
My other thing is I am not even sure I'm definatly changing, I was still having the same thoughts towards my interest as normal at times and then at other times there's nothin at all. I am also writing a fanfiction when I am writing as my main character of my interest. I don't know if this is part of why I don't want to move on, I love the story and this interest means a lot to me since it's been three years and I've spent £180 on it!
Has anyone ever successfully managed to stay with an Interest they liked?
I'd really love any answers to my questions and it might stop or help with my anxiety and I have one last question, how do your friends take your change in subject? I really want to keep a hold of some new friends. They have never seen me change and I'd really like to keep my aspergers to myself for a little longer, I only tell people when I'm certain I can trust them.
Please help me! Any advice would be amazingly helpful!

Well, you can try to find the reason your special interest isn't doing it for you anymore, because interests can change over time regardless of what you do. If it's feeling more like a chore right now, you can stow it away and wait until you feel interested again. I wouldn't recommend forcing yourself into your interest, because that will just increase your anxiety in the long run.

The only long term interest I have had is reading. And that oscillates too. When I was younger I would guess I read about a book a week. Now I might read one book in a month, and later get into reading again and read 5 or 6 in a month.
