Maybe people should start hooking up on this site. Is that a bad idea? |

| Could you define 'hooking up'? It seems to have as many meanings as 'dating'. |

| As with all places that socially awkward guys tend to congregate, there is a decided shortage of women. |

The fact that most of us would need plane tickets to go meet each other and splashing money around on long-distance tickets isn't most of our budgets does throw a bit of a wrench in the gears.
Yes, there's webcam which is great for at least checking nonverbal chemistry but I still think the internet in general needs a richer environment for 'virtual dating' than it currently has to offer. Short of that, testing the waters at long distance can be incredibly challenging. |

| I don't think there are any Norwegian girls who frequently post here—and even if there are, the difference between the southmost and the northmost point of Norway is equal to the distance between the southmost point and Rome. |

I think part of that (just part) is that when a lot of guys who are "awkward" get together, it can create an environment that is actively hostile to women. When guys come here to "vent" or complain about women or display bad attitudes about women, it makes it an uncomfortable place to be a woman.
You see this in online gaming / gaming forums where the women who do participate often hide their gender to avoid being flamed and sexually harassed.
If you want there to be more girls, make it a nice place for girls to be. _________________ If your success is defined as being well adjusted to injustice and well adapted to indifference, then we don’t want successful leaders. If a woman has problems in the dating arena, she's free to vent here as well. |
