|
|
Here is a photo of my three favorite friends to take with me wherever I go, just so I'm not lonely:
The stuffed dolphin's name is Dory, the Car's name is Susie, and the Calico Critters kitten's name is Miss Important. She is called that because my therapist gave her to me today to serve as a reminder that regardless of what I look like, how much I weigh, and whatever mistakes I make, I am still an important person. I have trouble believing that sometimes.
And so I was wondering - does anyone else have a favorite object (like a plushie, something to keep one's hands busy, or even a smartphone or Ipod) that they like to carry around with them in their hands, pockets, or in a bag? My three little guys mostly stay in my bag; I don't really take 'em out...I just like knowing they're there. _________________ I wish Sterling Holloway narrated my life.

| I have my iPhone and/or iPod with me whereever I go. The iPod's buttons are satisfying to fiddle with--they've got a nice "clicky" feel to them. Aside from that, I'll sometimes have a rubber band or a small rubber ball in my pocket to amuse me. |

Things I carry with me almost always:
-Laptop (and power cord)
-Solar charger that charges things via USB
-Phone
(and then together in a bag):
-Kindle
-Booklight for kindle
-Peppermint oil mixture
-Dry mouth mouth spray
-Face mask
-Slide rule
-Theraputty
-Flashlight/laser pointer
-gum
-granola bar
-deck of playing cards
(On keys):
-Earplugs
-Leatherman
-Advil
My set is very sensory oriented, but my kindle and laptop both fit the criteria you seem to be thinking of. I've actually slept cuddled with my laptop before because it calmed me down. |

It's so nice of your therapist to give you Miss Important. That's one cute kitty!
I take my Ipod and my cellphone everywhere with me. Also, pony tail holders and hand sanitizer. _________________ JUST LET THE GUY BE FROM K PAX!!!!!! |

Things that live in my purse:
silly putty
homemade stress balls
click-y pens
deck of cars
Bible
extra ear plugs
sunglasses
other pens and pencils
note pad
day planner
(in addition to keys, wallet, phone, ipod so I can have music in the car with the radio broken)
I stopped carrying favorite stuffed animals with me in the 7th grade when some kids found out and teased me extra for it, but clowny still lives, but with a quieter house live. I think it is great that you take your friends with you in your bag. If they help comfort you or calm you that is excellent.
The first four items are for me to have 'safe' ways to fidget. the last three for executive dysfunction issues, and the earplugs and sunglasses for sensory stuff. _________________ __ /(. . ) |

I have my messenger bag and it holds:
keys
basic set of tools
2-cycle oil
extra spark plug
bungee
stuff from shopping
I tend to collect things I see in the road so as a result occasionally the bag gets stuffed to the brim and some of the metal objects poke through. It's time for me to get a leather one _________________ "You're probably wondering why I'm here, and so am I, so am I" (not that it makes a heck of a lot of a difference anyway) |

Aww, Miss Important says thanks for all the compliments!
Things like Advil are also very good to take along in a bag...I carry some with me all the time, as well. _________________ I wish Sterling Holloway narrated my life.

Hey guys, sorry for the double post, but in the past weeks, I've found a few other little guys to take around with me: a "Blue Nose Friends" pig named Truffles (I know they mostly sell them in the UK, but there's a Barnes and Noble in Cincinnatti that I found a bunch of them in when visiting, but not anywhere else), a totem stone with a dolphin carved into it, and a worry doll named Elizabeth I've had since I was 9.
I like Truffles cuz she has these velvety patches and is incredibly soft...that, and she was the cutest Blue Nose Friend I saw there. I was originally looking for the Blue Nose Friends dolphin (since they're my favorite animals) but since there were none, I went with Truffles. I bought the dolphin totem in this shop in Nashville, IN that sold really cool Native American jewelry, belts, necklaces, etc. I found Elizabeth 11 years ago in a shop similar to the IN one in the mall. I had lots of anxiety as a kid (still do, actually, but it's a whole different shooting match now) and used to have a pretty big collection of these tiny worry dolls...but Elizabeth was the one I used the most. I was so thrilled to discover a year ago that I still had her. _________________ I wish Sterling Holloway narrated my life.

I mostly carry around useful things and they stay in my car (I drive for a living). Mainly this consists of enough tools to dismantle and reassemble my car from scratch if needed. I also carry around a digital camera, radiological dosimeter, dog whistle, pocket knife, several flashlights, spare fuses and belts, and sometimes a laptop. I carried more around when I used to drive my truck, but sadly the price of gas negated my ability to afford to keep using my long time companion and forced me to switch to my current 3 cylinder mode of transportation. _________________ Uncertain of diagnosis, either ADHD or Aspergers.

| The things I usually carry with me are a rabbit's foot (I hope I don't offend anyone here) and a demilled .50 cal. round for tactile stimulation. My cellphone and earbuds/headphones are also a must (it's the most durable mp3 player as of yet), my work ID and keys/passcards. |

Wow, I didn't know they made portable tools like that! And all that other stuff - sounds like you were well - prepared for anything that could happen!
I like to carry around a digital camera, too - you never know when you'll see something you'll want to capture on film! _________________ I wish Sterling Holloway narrated my life.

| The fretless J-Bass in my avatar goes with me many many places. I'd bring it everywhere if it were appropriate everywhere (and I already bring it almost everywhere). I never know when I'll need it, and I like being able to practice any time. |
